Theselection committee conducts GD to assess whether the candidate has certain personality traits and/or skills that it desires in its members. The groupdiscussion is not merely to impress the conductor but putting forth your firm beliefs.

Here are some important tips to crack GD:

1. Keep eye contact while speaking.

You are expected to discuss among group members, so always look at your group members while you are speaking. Do not look at the panelwhile speaking.

2. Initiate the GD.

3. Allow others to speak.

Do not interrupt anyone in-between while speaking. Even if you dont agree with his/her thoughts give them a chance to present their views.Instead make some notes and clear the points when its your turn.

4. Speak Clearly.

Everyone should be able to hear what you are saying.

5. Make sure to bring the discussion on track.

If by any means group is distracting from the topic or goal then simply take initiative to bring the discussion on the track.

6. Listen carefully to others.

Speak less and listen more. Pay attention while others are speaking. This will make coherent discussion and you will get involved in the grouppositively. You will surely make people agree with you.

7. If you need to interrupt someone who is speaking, it is always important to interject their conversation in a nice way.

Some groups may require you to raise your hand and be called upon before you can comment on a statement or idea.

8. Don't take the discussion personally.

9. You need to be assertive.

10. Be as natural as possible and dont try to be someone you are not.

1. Reading

Read as much as you can particularly on current affairs, the debates and hot topics of discussion and also keep in touch with the latest in the ITand ITES industry. Read both for the thoughts as well as for data. Also read multiple view points on the same topic and then create your point of

view with rationale. Also create answers for counter arguments for your point of view.

Reading newspaper is a great way to increase your knowledge. The more knowledge you will have, the better you would be able to perform.

2. Watching News is a great way to prepare for GD.

3. Practice, practice and practice.

Create an informal GD group and meet regularly to discuss and exchange feedback. This is the best way to prepare. This would give you a goodidea about your thoughts and how well can you convince. Remember, it is important that you are able to express your thoughts well. The betteryou perform in these mocks the better would be you chances to perform on the final day. Also, try to interact and participate in other GD groups.You will also learn to discuss with unknown people as well.

If you have not been able to initiate the discussion, try to summaries and close it. Good summarizing would get you good reward points. Aconclusion is where the whole group decides in favor or against the topic and most GDs do not have a closure.You should avoid discussing newpoints when summarizing a discussion. Every GD can be summarized by putting forth what the group has discussed in a nutshell. You should notmention your viewpoint. You should include all the important points discussed during the GD.

Make eye contact with all the members in the group and be patient. Don't get upset if anyone says anything you object to. Stay objective and don'ttake the discussion personally.Avoid looking at the panelists while speaking.

To Crack G.D and really wants to be successive so do find the topic to follow:Punctuality: Its always good to be in time, so that you will be familiar to the environment. And it will reduce your stress and make youcomfortable with other participants.Impromptu introduction: Very often moderators ask the participants to introduce themselves, introduction should be very spontaneous. As suchintroductions are impromptu, many fumbles or think and proceed. That gives a negative impression to the moderators and participants as well.Be smart towards moderator: In some cases, if you don't know about the topic going to discussed, you should behave smart as if you know aboutthis topic. Listen carefully till 3-4 participants discuss about the topic, and later you join them.First impression is last impression: It always a added advantage to start the discussion, but if you thorough about the topic and confident then onlyyou should start. Otherwise a bad start gives you a negative impression.GD Vs Debate: Many participants tried to emphasize their own opinion, and tried to make it towards unilateral. Such things can be in Debate, butin case of Group Discussion everyone should participate and take a chance to carry forward the discussion.Assertiveness Vs aggression: Many having a misconception that corporate world is always looking for a aggressive manager. But the fact is thatcorporate world always looking for more assertive managers than aggressive one.

dear mami got a topic on "should access of intrenet be given to children"in this I spoke a few words during whole GDbut when the interviewer gave us 1 minute to speak indvisually then only i gave response in negative but all other members gave in positive wayand interviewer said u have a good pointbut instead of this i didnt select for GDdid i do something wrong ??
