  • 1. Marijuana-Marijuana is a dry, shredded green and brown mix of leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. In a more concentrated, resinous form, it is called hashish, and as a sticky black liquid, hash oil.

    2. Hashish-Hashish is composed of the compressed resins from the cannabis plant. Hashish can either be extracted from the plant through chemical processes or mechanical ones that strip the resin from the outside of the marijuana buds. Hashish is sold in compressed blocks, balls or bricks, and by the time they reach the consumer, may be small squares wrapped in aluminum foil.

    3. Heroin-Heroin is derived from the juice of a poppy grown in Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia including Afghanistan and Pakistan, Mexico and Colombia. The poppy juice is turned into opium and then morphine, and morphine is processed into heroin.

    4. Gamma Hydroxybutyrate-GHB is a popular drug with club-goers and those who go to "rave parties," including teens and young adults. Its side effects can be very dangerous, especially if the drug is mixed with alcohol.

    5. Cocaine- Cocaine is a powerfully addictive stimulant drug made from the leaves of the coca plant native to South America. It produces short-term euphoria, energy, and talkativeness in addition to potentially dangerous physical effects like raising heart rate and blood pressure.

    6. Amphetamine-A powerful central nervous system stimulant and sympathomimetic. Amphetamine has multiple mechanisms of action including blocking uptake of adrenergics and dopamine, stimulation of release of monamines, and inhibiting monoamine oxidase. Amphetamine is also a drug of abuse and a psychotomimetic.

    7. Methamphetamine-Methamphetamine (also called meth, crystal, chalk, and ice, among other terms) is an extremely addictive stimulant drug that is chemically similar to amphetamine. It takes the form of a white, odorless, bitter-tasting crystalline powder.

    8. METHYLENEDIOXYMETHAMPHETAMINE-MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine), popularly known as ecstasy or, more recently, as Molly, is a synthetic, psychoactive drug that has similarities to both the stimulant amphetamine and the hallucinogen mescaline. It produces feelings of increased energy, euphoria, emotional warmth and empathy toward others, and distortions in sensory and time perception.

    9. FLUNITRAZEPAM-A benzodiazepine with pharmacologic actions similar to those of DIAZEPAM that can cause ANTEROGRADE AMNESIA. Some reports indicate that it is used as a date rape drug and suggest that it may precipitate violent behavior. The United States Government has banned the importation of this drug.

    10. LSD- LSD is one of the most potent, mood-changing chemicals. It is manufactured from lysergic acid, which is found in the ergot fungus that grows on rye and other grains. It is produced in crystal form in illegal laboratories, mainly in the United States. These crystals are converted to a liquid for distribution. It is odorless, colorless, and has a slightly bitter taste.
