MILESTONE FOR O’SULLIVANHead coach Kevin O’Sullivan picked up his 400th career win on 2/24 against Miami. He became the quickest Gator baseball coach to reach that plateau, taking just 590 games to accomplish the feat. O’Sullivan ranks third on the school’s coaching victories list and has taken the Orange and Blue to five of its 10 CWS appearances (2010-12, 2015-16).

1. Dave Fuller (1948-75) 557-354-6 (.611)2. Joe Arnold (1984-94) 434-244-2 (.640)3. KEVIN O’SULLIVAN (2008-) 423-202 (.677)

STARTING STRONGFor the Gators to win, their starting pitching has to do its job. Through 40 games, they hold a 2.69 ERA in 231. innings with 69 earned runs allowed. They’ve also racked up 212 strikeouts. The pitching staff has combined for 17 quality starts (6+ IP, 3 or less ER).

When the starting pitcher allows two or less earned runs, the Gators are 22-8 (.733) on the year. Florida is 12-4 in games in which its starter lasts through six innings.

CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOKAlex Faedo picked up his 25th career victory with 8.2 shutout innings in a 1-0 win against South Carolina. His career win percentage of .833 (25-5 record) ranks first in school history among pitchers who have recorded at least 20 decisions. Faedo is now tied for sixth in school history with 25 wins in his career. Marc Valdes (31 wins, 1991-93) holds the UF record.

#FEELTHEBYRNESophomore MICHAEL BYRNE has been a bright spot in the bullpen this season. After making three starts early in the year with good success (2.40 ERA, 15.0 IP), he moved to the bullpen where he has become even more valuable. In 17 relief appearances, Byrne has a 2.05 ERA in 26.1 innings. He has allowed just two of 17 inherited runners to score on the season. He has a team high eight saves to go along with 48 strikeouts and just seven walks on the season.

WELCOME BACK LANGWORTHYFreshman AUSTIN LANGWORTHY went a month between at bats after having surgery to repair a broken hamate bone in his right hand. He returned to the lineup and hit .412 (7-for-17) with 5 RBI at Florida State and Vanderbilt to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors. He also drew five walks.

BUILDING THE BULLPENThe Gators knew that a big question mark entering the season was the bullpen. As the season has progressed, things have come together. In the last 15 games, the bullpen has a 2.06 earned run average over 48.0 innings -- compared to a 4.81 ERA in the first 25 games of the season. The go-to guys have been Byrne (see above), Garrett Milchin (9.1 IP, 0 ER) and Nick Horvath (8.1 IP, 2 ER).

CLOSE GAMESFlorida has already played 20 one-run games with an 13-7 record this year. Last year, UF had just 17 one-run games all season (68 total games) with a 10-7 record in those contests. See Chart ->
