ONE IS GREATER THAN NONE

In April 2007, eight 14 year-old girls from Long Island watched a segment on TheOprah Winfrey Show documenting the plight of children enslaved in the fishingvillages of Ghana, Africa. After seeing the show, the girls were moved to take action. They started raising funds by selling handmade bracelets and necklaces in theirhometown and through their website. In just one year, One is Greater Than None hasraised over $100,000 and funded rescue missions for more than 18 children incooperation with the International Organization for Migration

The girls wanted to raise money, but they were equally determined to raise social

awareness. Do anything. Do something. It is such a simple premise, but how easilythe world could change if everyone embraced that philosophy. The girls learned thatso many people wanted to help. The website, printing, legal consultation, photographers, tee shirts etc… have all been donated by people wanting to contributein any way they can to help save the trafficked children in Ghana. Groups as well asindividuals were equally appalled that children as young as four were being sold asslaves and generously became “part of the equation”.

There are problems everywhere. In so many cases there are solutions. The girls areasking everyone to look around and then look inside. The answers are there. It's timeto ask how can you "Be part of the equation". They are an inspiration to everyone, that anyone can make a difference no matter how limited their resources. Who wouldhave imagined what eight 14 year-old girls could accomplish.

March 20, 2009

On behalf of the entire Executive Board and thecommittee members, I welcome you to the 1>0 NoneBenefit Concert!

This evening began with a simple idea. How could I, a 15year-old high school student, combine my love of musicwith my interest in raising funds and awareness for a

worthy cause? My friends, Nicole Zion and Jamie Klabenquickly agreed to help and it didn’t take long to realizethat One Is Greater Than None was the charity we

wanted to partner with.

One Is Greater Than None was started approximately two years ago by a group

of eight 15 year-old girls from Long Island who were inspired by an episode theywatched on Oprah Winfrey depicting young children in Africa enslaved in thefishing villages of Ghana. At a cost of $4,300 per child, the InternationalOrganization for Migration (IOM) was putting together rescue missions to save as

many children as possible and return them to their families with a promise offood, shelter and education for 2_ years. Hoping to raise enough to save atleast one child, these girls began selling handmade bracelets and necklaces

wherever they could. By the end of the first year, they had also launched aclothing line and raised nearly $90,000 for use by the IOM. Nicole, Jamie and Iarranged to meet with the One Is Greater Than None girls to discuss our idea

and the 1>0 Benefit Concert became a reality.

None of us was really sure of what exactly we’d be in for. Over the course of the

past few months, Nicole, Jamie and I together with our committee members, have spent countless hours on our computers trying to make the necessarycontacts and learning about production, sound, promotion and fundraising. We’ve learned how to deal with all types of personalities and can tell you the

best type of tape to use to hang posters in a store window.

Thanks to you and our generous sponsors, not only has tonight’s concert raised

awareness and funding for One Is Greater Than None, but we also hope thatother young people will be inspired to make a difference and recognize that“any contribution, no matter how small, has value”.

Now, sit back and have a great time. :)

CHRIS KOON

If Chris Koon could explain the last three

years of his life in one word, it would be an

“adventure." A small town boy-next-door

with a dream to perform, Chris Koon

certainly has garnered quite a bit of

attention just by doing what he loves.

Koon’s entertainment career began at the

age of six, with a performance in a

Christmas musical at his church, and he

hasn’t stopped performing since. “Being

from a small town, I had a lot of people tell

me that I wouldn’t be able to do anything,”

he says.

His perseverance, hard work, and

determination to be seen landed him

appearances on two seasons of the hit teen

drama One Tree Hill, as well as the

opportunity to work alongside the casts of

the massively successful shows Grey’s

Anatomy and Lost. On top of all that, Chris

also found work as a freelance

choreographer, winning numerous

accolades and awards throughout the Midwest. Chris also took home the award for “Favorite Actor”

in the first annual FanGap Choice Awards, an award based on votes from visitors and fans of the

hugely popular entertainment website, FanGap.com. Not limiting himself to just acting, Chris put

together a live dance stage show, which he choreographed himself, and has taken on the road to

stages across the country. Koon explains his show as a “fun pop/rock show with hip-hop

choreography.” Chris has taken his show to stages also featuring Chris Fedun (of Jump 5), Joey

Page, Katelyn Tarver, Monet Monico, TSquad, and many others. Chris also served as the opening

act for a string of shows on a winter tour supporting Phil Bensen & Push Play. He has also been

seen onstage with multi-platinum, Hollywood Records recording artists, Jonas Brothers.

Using his platform as a known performer, Chris has opened up to TheOneLove.org by keeping up a

personal blog that in turn helps benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Chris has

also been involved with many other charities throughout his career, by using his time and talents to

help raise money not only for suicide prevention, but for diabetes research, children’s hospitals, and

much more.

With a talent, passion, and drive that is like no other, Chris Koon is bound to be one of this year's

biggest upcoming talents. "I just want to be able to do what I love and hopefully inspire others to do

the same. It's because of all of the amazing people supporting me that my dreams are finally starting

to come true, and I can't say thanks enough."

GRAHAM COLTON"I've never felt more like myself than I have on this album. Ifound myself, and I finally found my voice," the singer, songwriter and guitarist Graham Colton says of his CD, Here

Right Now. Stepping into his own in order to connect to his heartand artistic vision, Graham Colton has emerged with a stunningcollection of pop-rock melodies, lyrics and emotions in 12 tracksthat swing between love and heartbreak, trials and relief. "Thelast album I made with my band was heavily influenced by whatwe all loved listening to and the artists we toured with. Lookingback, it was hard for me to identify who I was as an artist in thatsituation. I had to learn how to be a performer and a songwriterin my own right before I could find my true self to make thealbum I really wanted to, which is now completely natural andone-hundred percent honest," Colton explains.

In the first single, Best Days, Colton sings, "It's a windingroad/it's a long way home.” His explanation? "I think that is whatthe last four years have been in my life, with touring the countryand playing everywhere from bars to clubs to theaters to arenas. It was all a great dress rehearsal because I feel like it took thattime - and it took those relationships whether they were withgirlfriends, band members or meeting other bands on the road -to really find their way into these new songs."

Indeed, Colton admits the grassroots elements that run throughout his music harkens back to his humble beginnings inOklahoma City, where he grew up absorbing tidbits of his dad’s record collection. "My dad was in a 60's cover band, I used towatch them rehearse songs by The Kinks, The Yardbirds, The Beatles. I liked the music, but all I wanted to do was sing withthe band," he recalls. He soon got his wish at age 7, when he stood on a chair and belted out “Oklahoma” in front of a packedhouse. After learning to play the guitar at 12, he started writing his own songs (Colton still considers himself a songwriter firstand a singer second), which led to small Saturday night gigs at a local Mexican restaurant, where Colton continued to absorbmusical influences such as Counting Crows, Oasis, The Lemonheads, The Wallflowers, and R.E.M After moving to Dallas toattend Southern Methodist University, a few of the home-recorded tracks from CD’s he handed out at gigs turned up on theInternet and he started drawing a wider audience to his self-penned acoustic rock. “From there more and more people came outto the shows," says Colton, who formed The Graham Colton Band with friends he recruited to play the bigger venues hisnewfound popularity required. He soon drew the attention of one of his biggest influences, Counting Crows lead singer AdamDuritz, who got wind of Colton's following and booked the emerging act to open on six weeks of the band's 2002 college tour.A record deal with Universal Republic followed and The Graham Colton Band quickly amped up their tour experience, joiningthe Crows several more times and hitting the road with the likes of John Mayer, Maroon 5, Train, Kelly Clarkson and DaveMatthews Band.

After three years of constant touring, Colton separated from his band and moved to Los Angeles where he spent a year writingsongs and recording. In the end, he settled on what he feels are the perfect twelve. On going solo, Colton explains, "I just knewthat in order for me to make the kind of album that I needed to make I needed to be one-hundred percent on my own. That iswhy it is so emotional. Every one of these songs is gut wrenching for me.” The contents of this emotional epiphany wouldprove to be the recurring thread that connects all of the songs on the album. Perhaps nothing describes the title of the album,Here Right Now, and this underlying theme better than the chorus of Best Days. ”Don’t wait/for someone to tell you its toolate, Cause these are the Best Days, There’s always/something tomorrow so I say, Let’s make the best of tonight, here comesthe rest of our lives.” Besides the recording of Best Days - a "huge moment," Colton says, that defined the entire direction ofthe album – Here Right Now also includes "Cellophane Girl," written at the age of 17 and which became one of his earlyInternet hits, as well as the soaring "On Your Side," a relationship-on-the-mend track showcasing Colton's flare for depictingheartbreak through the realm of hope. "The song says that it didn't work but it's okay. I'm kind of moving on and there's noregret and no hard feelings." Other memorable tracks following this framework include the anthemic "You Find A Way" andraucous "Always In Love."

Although it took coming back to his roots in all senses, to go forward, he hopes his work on Here Right Now transcends themoments he used as inspiration and reflected upon. "As far as dynamics, there is a great feeling and a quiet sense of confidencethat I have done it all by myself," he says. "My plan is to just kind of let it happen. Ultimately it forces me to connect with whatI'm saying every time I strum these songs. I feel that I’ve honed in on what my sound is. Hopefully, it’s a sound that’s all myown."

TAMARAMA

Taking their name from a little known Australian beach where they grew up, Tamarama's Jay

Lyon and Nicolas "Pottsy" Potts have nurtured a sound reflecting life on the shores of OZ. With

a mix of folk, rock, and reggae rhythms, breezy melodies and easy going lyrics this new

collection of songs will surely catch your attention.

Tamarama is now based in New York City, far from the tranquil settings of their old stomping

grounds, but their vibe has never strayed too far from the beaches at home where the memories

feed the music. The new surroundings and it's diversity have helped develop their sound,

broaden their influences and deepen their style, not to mention given them a solid local and

celebrity following in the US.

SAVING JANE

What started out as simply a campfire song between strangers soon turned into a musical

connection in the form of the Columbus, OH-based alternative pop/rock group Saving Jane. It

was at this bonfire that vocalist Marti Dodson (then a junior at Ohio State University) and

rhythm guitarist Pat Buzzard first met and subsequently became friends. The pair began writing

songs together and when the time came to record their work, local drummer Dak Goodman was

recruited to help. The trio found something in each other, and the decision was made to form an

actual band. Booking their first show, they took the name Saving Jane from a cartoon Dodson

had been doodling one late night at the studio. As the band slowly began making a name for

itself around Columbus, an additional lead guitarist, Kris Misevski, and a borrowed bass player

from Goodman's cover band rounded out the group. About a year later, tensions within the band

lead to the departure of their borrowed bassist, and Jeremy Martin replaced him in 2002. Two

years later, as Saving Jane found their style shifting more from acoustic roots to alternative rock,

their manager insisted that Dodson's be emphasized over the rest of the band; these changes

eventually led to the exit of their lead guitarist. Mike Unger filled in the guitar gap, while

keyboardist Joe Cochran completed the lineup later on. Saving Jane's full-length debut, Girl Next

Door, was issued in October 2005 on Toucan Cove, and the title track found the band making

their debut on the Billboard charts. Next signing to Universal, the band recorded a few additional

tracks for an April 2006 re-release of their debut album on Republic/Universal. The early months

of 2006 also saw guitarist Unger stepping down from the band for personal reasons; Brandon

Hagan joined on in his place.

Push Play is an edgy pop rock band coming to the scene first on Long Island and reaching as far as the

Midwest in cities such as Menomonee Falls, WI and Chicago, IL and as far north as Boston, MA.

Comprised of four young men, this talented group has just been named Best Band on Long Island by

the Long Island Press. Their newly released debut album “Deserted”, which represents all of their own

material, has reached almost 30,000 fans across the globe and their iTunes release stayed in the top 100

for the first 2 weeks, which is unheard of by a unsigned band that had not begun touring outside the tri-

state area. This rock quartet consists of CJ Baran, lead singer, rhythm guitarist and keyboards, Steve

Scarola, lead guitarist and keyboards, Nick DeTurris, bass, and Derek Ries, drummer. They are smart,

charismatic and true role models. CJ Baran is a senior at St. Anthony's in S. Huntington and president

of both Student Council and DECA. Steve Scarola is a member of the marching band at Garden City

High and recently came back with a group from his school working to help rebuild New Orleans. Nick

DeTurris is VP of Yodel Kadodel at Commack High, which is a club that raises funds for cancer

victims and Derek Ries is on a full scholarship with Baruch's Honors Program as a freshman. These

young men represent tomorrow’s leaders and more importantly “DOERS”.

What sets them apart from the rest is quite simple: PURPOSE! Their Push Play for Purpose campaign

is getting national recognition as they start to make their way to other states for one cause: to help

those in need. Their philanthropic efforts through this "Purpose" tour has enabled them to raise funds

for a multitude of charities including Education and Assistance Corp., Habitat for Humanity, Shared

Decision, Christian Ministries, Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation, Team for Kids, Juvenile

Diabetes Foundation, Autism Speaks, Invisible Children, Samaritan's Feet, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,

Disaster Relief for Hurricane Katrina victims, Habitat for Humanity, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation,

Relay for Life, 9 in 1, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Fight for Charity, donating money to both Friends

of the Arts and Fight for Charity and performing for free at those events as well.

Recently signing with Creative Artist Agency, as their agent, they plan to take the world by force,

starting slowly and building a fan base across the globe with solid headlining acts. Push Play has been

approached by the majors but have decided to take things into their own hands under the leadership of

their management and the force behind their “Push Play for Purpose” campaign which has set them

apart from other bands. In the tri-state area every show performed has been to a sold out crowd since

September 2007. Only together for 2 years, this is quite a triumph for these good looking, multitalented

young men.
