unidirectionally (horizontally) so that they are parallel to the bottom of the page

aligned so that they are parallel to the dimension line.

Rule 10:

Never measure off a drawing - it is too inaccurate as some drawings are not to scale.

Rule 11:A correctly dimensioned drawing should be pleasing to the eye.
