1. Year 5 Topic Potter’s Potions - Term 4

ICT I use communication tools to share and exchange ideas with others. I use strategies for staying safe. Use editing and formatting techniques to develop and refine work to improve quality and presentation.

Science I use my knowledge and understanding to sort materials into groups in a variety of ways according to their properties. I give simple explanations of the ways in which some materials are suited to specific purposes. I classify changes in materials as reversible. Topic Read and listen to a wide range of styles of texts, including fairy stories, myths and legends. Listen to and discuss a wide range of texts. Take part in conversations about books. Read and listen to whole books.

Calculation I can add, subtract, multiply and divide using efficient methods. I can count and calculate in increasingly complex contexts, including those that cannot be experiences first hand. I understand the language of factors, common factors, multiples, prime numbers, non-composite numbers.

PE I play competitive games applying the basic principles suitable for attacking and defending. I can perform short dance routines.

Art & Design

To investigate and analyse a range of existing products, evaluate their ideas and products against their own design criteria and consider the views of others to improve their work.

Music

I can play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using voice and playing instruments with increasing accuracy, control and expression.

Communication, Language and Literacy/ MFL Literacy Write a non-chronological report on the features of being a wizard. Create an extended piece of narrative based on the first Harry Potter book. Engage in meaningful discussions in all areas of the curriculum. Listen to and learn a wide range of subject specific vocabulary. Speak to small and larger audiences at frequent intervals.
