Dropping cigar tips and cigarette butts to the ground, putting them
in planters, and disposing of them in drains and waterways is
littering Cigarette butts are the most littered itemrepresenting
32% of all items collected* Many smokers dont consider tossing

Since its small, it doesnt matter Only 10% of cigarette butts are
deposited in litter receptacles* 35% of smokers toss five or more

10 Grant Requirements Spend a minimum of 50% of the grant on
the purchase of ash receptacles (not pocket ashtrays) No one under
the age of 18 being involved in the program Implement the four
proven strategies for reducing cigarette butt litter Conduct three
Cigarette Litter Scans: a preliminary scan prior to program launch,
a follow-up scan a minimum of eight weeks after the installation of
ash receptacles, and a sustainability scan no earlier than six
months after the first follow-up scan Report your results on time:
mid-summer update report due June 28 th, final report due September
9 th, and the sustainability report due May 1, 2014
