Modular Plants to Convert Cellulosic Biomass to Ethanol

[email protected] , Welcome, MNEasy Energy Systems, Inc

Yield, now: 2.6 - 3.0 gal ethanol / bushel of corn (or 94 - 109 gal/ton). Future: Easy Energy Systems is developing an add-onpod to add cellulosic ethanol production means to the Standard unit. This pod will provide the initial conversion of the cellulose and then carry it through the rest of the standard ethanol production system.http://www.easyenergysystems.com/Index.htm

Small Plant to Convert MSW to Electricity in Parking Lot

Stu Haber, president & CEO, Waltham, Mass IST Energy/Green Tech News

3 tons/day of trash yields about 120 kW of electricity and about double that in heat. Financial benefit is in cutting disposal fees, Stu Haber said. Up-front cost of $850,000; leasing option available. Payback in 3-4 years. 10% federal tax credit available. This unit feedstock rate and output is ~ 5x higher than CPC’s BioMax-25 (output of 25 kW)

2. Other Modules: Convert Trash to Electricity via Mobile “Bioreactor”

Defense Life Science LLC and Purdue University

1. The shredder rips up waste and soaks it in water to make sludge2. The sludge is pumped into the bioreactor, and enzymes break it down into carbohydrates and then into simple sugars, which yeast metabolizes into ethanol. 3. Residue is pelletized in the pelletizer, & converted to gas in the gasification reactor . 4. The ethanol, gas and 10% diesel fuel convert to electric power in the diesel generator,

Input: 100 lbs/h

Output: 60 kW

Size: ~ Moving Van

Tested Apr-Aug.’08 in Iraq
