Lab Conclusions:Is there a pattern of ramp height and distance traveled? •Does double, triple or quadruple the ramp height mean double, triple & quadruple the distance? More or less than that??•Is there a pattern in the amount of increase as the ramp got higher??

Question:Based on your lab data, how far do you predict your groups’ car will travel using 8 books?

Hypothesis: Add to bottom of lab worksheet

Procedure: 1.Add a row to your data table for 8 books (above or below existing table)

2.Start car at top of ramp & let go (do NOT push). Record distance traveled from end of ramp.3.Repeat 2 more times & record distances.4.Calculate average distance for the 3 trials.

Vocabulary: *Add picture to 3rd box

Potential Energy – The stored energy of an object when it is not moving.

Kinetic Energy – energy of an object in motion

• On your lab diagram, label where potential & kinetic energy would be.

• Use your new vocabulary to explain why the cars went farther when started at a greater height?
