  • GRADING AND PROGRESSION Nursing Program Grades and Progression Grading not the same as other courses.To progress to next semester, you must be successful.Only 1 second chance , if you withdraw or fail to earn a grade of C or higher grade in a semester.

  • SKILLS LABORATORIESThere are 4 skills rooms 2 Low-Tech 2 High-Fidelity capable of interactive simulations All equipment and supplies are expensive. Treat all with respect or it will not be there for you to learn. NO cell phones, cameras, food, or drinks allowed.

    In these 4 rooms are where you will:Practice all your nursing skills Be checked-off as competent in all required skills Complete any required practicum

  • PHYSICAL EXAMCall the Student Health Center @ 355-6310 for appt.

    Bring immunization record. If necessary, ck with Public Health.If unable to prove, titers may be necessary .MMR and TD is free at the Student Health Center if needed. Hepatitis B & Varicella are recommended. Available at the Public Health Department for a cost.

    The TB skin test (PPD) requires a follow-up within 48-72 hours. If you tested positive on a TB skin test in the past:Bring recent chest x-ray report or ask the nurse to schedule you for one. (Cost will be about $24.00)

  • BACKGROUND & DRUG CHECK Background Resultswww.sdnsebackground.com If any negative comments, make an appointment with the Program Director and begin a paper trail to explain what happened and how you have corrected it. Healthcare facilities will not allow students with a record of violence to practice Drug Screen www.questdiagnostics.com/appointments If results positive for any drug, make an appointment with the Program Director

  • ATI TESTING ATI Tests provide a standardized method of assessment.Accepted by most schools in California as valid & reliable. Proctored tests are given in each semesterList is provided in the Student Handbook Scoring is provided in the Student Handbook Nurse-in-the-Box Study guide, books, & DVDs Virtual ATI (4th Semester an additional cost)
