Constrained Condition

• Japanese frequency allocation is from 433.67MHz to 434.17MHz.

• Occupied bandwidth is narrower than 200KHz for Tag side.  TX power is lower than 0dBm EIRP.

• 433MHz band must be used for international logistics only.

• Occupied bandwidth is defined as 99% power.• Data rate should be set harmonics of 1Mbps

which is 802.15.4 basic data rate . (1000,500,250,125,62.5,31.25Kbps)

Benefit of “433 MHz Narrow Band Active RFID”

• It can be used world wide for international logistics (i.e. ocean container tracking) without interference from WiFi.

• EPC global has been discussed this issues.

• The narrow band RFID can expand communication range compare with the wide band Active RFID under the same power, modulation and coding.

Sensitivity was measured by using CC430 test board in case of 31.25Kbps, 62.5Kbps and 250Kbps respectively. Tx and RX were connected through the attenuator.

31.25Kbps, 60KHz separation,100KHz bandwidth (99% power) is assumed.In order to have certification of 433MHz Band, only edge channels (Ch1,Ch7) are critical. It is no concept of channels in Japanese RR of 433MHz, the bandwidth will be checked at only lower than 433.67MHz and higher than 434.17MHz.

Future work

• We understood Japanese 433MHz RR is not meet world wide standards.

• We will continue to negotiate with Armature Radio to open more wide band and to lift the usage limitation.

• We already started this work using the special frequency zone program governed with Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications using car export lane.

• After IEEE802.15.4 defines new standards, we will use this spec for negotiations.
