Ω Race is a computing system able to combine clinical data of the patient known to the Cardiologist together with the genetic data held by the Laboratory.Ω Race is and advanced computing system to estimate the alteration of the cardiovascular risk caused by interaction of the presence of specific polymorphisms and objective clinical circumstances.

CARDIOLO-GIST

The cardiologist insert personal and anamnestic

data of the patient into the Ω-Race System and

prescribes the innovative genetic testing with

Cardio Kit. The patient is sent to a Laboratory

that performs Cardio Kit test.

The Laboratory performs the test and inserts

the genetic data into the Ω Race System.

From this moment the integrated genetic risk

evaluation system becomes active. The

integration of the genetic and clinical profiles

will generate an evaluation that will produce a

scoresheet issued by the Laboratory.

CARDIOLOGIST

The cardiologist gets the laboratory’s scoresheet with the

calculation of the integrated genetic risk (Genetic factors

integrated with traditional risk factors) at 5, 10, 15 and 20

years. The Cardiologist on the basis of the scoresheet issues

a report, sets the therapy and creates its personal patient’s

archive.

How to interpretate the integrated genetic risk?

❖ The risk factor is presented as a colored cells matrix. Colors indicate the risk level (Green: low risk, …, violet: high risk) of getting a Cardio Vascular Disease (CVD).

❖ The first column shows the integrated genetic risk to next 5 years. Further columns show the risk at ranges of 5 years each in the future up to a forecast of 20 years.

❖ As example “X” sign in column “Risk at 15 years” into a dark green cell means the probability of a Cardio Vascular Disease event in next 15 years goes with a probability between 5 and 10% (as indicated left side under “Key” column). Namely took 100 persons with same characteristics of the patient under examination, in between of 5 and 10 of them will get a CVD in next 15 years.

❖ Finally it is possible to compare the integrated genetic risk with the same risk calculated without the genetic profile.

How to interpretate the integrated genetic risk?

❖ This case shows two matrices. Left one considers into evaluation genetic factors while the right one is an evaluation of the risk without taking into account genetic factors.

❖ Notice how for the patient under evaluation, despite having a very low risk factor, the risk of a Cardio Vascular Disease (CAD) increases from “Less than 5%” to “5% - 10%” at 15 years, if genetic factors are taken into consideration in addiction to traditional clinical risks.
