It has been the vision of Faculty of Computer Science Universitas Indonesia to be the center of excellence in
field of Computer Science and Information Technology and to contribute significantly in improving
competitiveness of Indonesia. Fasilkom UI is determined to be the top referral in development of computer science
and information technology in Indonesia. This vision is outlined in the following missions:
1. Education: delivering graduates who can compete in the global market.
2. Research and services: creating, developing, and applying relevant science and communication and
information technology to improve the competitiveness of Indonesia.
3. Outreach Programs: being responsible morally and socially to develop intelligence and dignity.
To carry out its missions, Fasilkom UI intends to hold an event named Summer Camp Program 2015. The goal
of the Summer Camp is to facilitate in improving skills of students in computer science field through research and
training. After completing this Summer Camp, students are expected to have hands on experience of developing
applications and conducting research with close supervision from industry.
Furthermore, this Summer Camp also aims to initiate strong collaboration between university and industry. It
has become increasingly acknowledged that the necessity of close university-industry interactions as a mean of
national economic prosperity. Mutual relationships between university and industry are very significant because the
relationship between those two can nurture economic development of a nation. In a world of fast changing
technology and competition, it is necessary for the university to cooperate with industry to consolidate efforts
fostering the dispersing of knowledge, escalating research and development, patenting innovation, and
commercializing products.
Summer Camp 2014 was successfully held with total participants of 243 students with 7 activities and 2 joint
research teams through collaboration with seven leading industries and promising start up company. The interest
was very high, from 543 applications, we could only accomodate 53,8%. The feedback from students was very
good, almost 100% said the programs was very useful and they would love to join next year event.
This year, Summer Camp is aiming at larger number of participants and more industry partners. Five
sub-events have been carefully planned to meet aforementioned goals. They are:
1. Project Workshop 2. Training Program
3. Joint Research
4. Seminar
5. Excursion
No. Event Duration
1.
Seminar A one day seminar on how to develop mobile apps on several platforms. Speaker
will show the audience how to deliver the best experience for mobile user and
provide basic understanding of mobile apps environment, as well as develop apps
on high quality code and design.
1 day
2.

1.1 Description
Fasilkom UI has so many creative students who are very
talented and already have basic knowledge in IT. They
are mostly fast learners, which means that under good
training, supervision, and support they will learn new
technologies and skills faster and produce better
products. Project workshop activity will consist of
seminar and application development with supervision
from industry.
1.2 Objectives
1. Students possess the required skill and
knowledge on mobile apps
development on several platforms
such as Android, Windows phone, and
Windows store.
2. To create opportunity for students to
have their own mobile apps published
to application store.
1.3 Target Participants
This program is open for public with priority
given to students of Faculty of Computer Science
Universitas Indonesia.
1.4 Schedule and Location
15 June – 4 July 2015 in Faculty of Computer
Science Universitas Indonesia or some industry
partner’s office.
1.5 Rundown
2.1 Overview
Training Program aiming at facilitating students
with training about the latest technology. The
difference of Training Program and Project
Workshop is that participants of Training
Program are not mandated to produce and submit
their applications like Project Workshop
program.
2.2 Motivation
There are many graduates produced by the
university who do not possess appropriate
technical skills needed in the working
environment. The technologies which they
studied in the university are not exactly the same
as the one used in the working environment,
especially information technology industries. It is
not possible to teach about all of those
technologies in the university, since it will
interrupt the adaptation process of the graduates,
while the industries need them immediately.
2.3 Objective
The purposes of this program is to give some
resources and knowledge to students and
graduates who have passion in information
technology industries to accelerate their
adaptation process. This program will give some
technical knowledge, for example: introduction
to some technologies used by industries, or some
software development best practices. With this
transfer of knowledge, it is expected that the
graduates could get the big picture about
technologies commonly used by industries, so
that they could get themselves ready with the
needed knowledge.
2.4 Target Audience
The priority target audience of this program is the
fresh graduates or last year students in Computer
Science or Information System who have passion
in software development. If there are still seats
available, they will be offered for public.
2.5 Schedule and Location
This program will be held anytime during 15
June - 4 July 2015 in Faculty of Computer
Science Universitas Indonesia.
3.1 Motivation
Faculty of Computer Science has eight research laboratories, as following:
• IT Governance
• Computer Networks, Architecture, and High Performance Computing
• Digital Library and Distance Learning
• E-Government
• Enterprise Computing Lab
• Formal Methods in Software Engineering
• Information Retrieval
• Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and Geographical Information System
These laboratories have internationally acknowledged experts in respective fields who have produced
wide range scientific results and have published papers in many recognized journals and conferences. This
research results are potential resources to be commercialized and used by many people. University and
industrial sector could collaborate to realize that goal. Therefore, the joint research between the industry
and university would be a good way to bring it into reality.
Form of corporations are flexible and will be based on mutual need and mutual benefit. Both parties
are expected to respect and protect the privacy and security of intellectual properties and confidential
information.
3.2 Objectives
1. Establish a trust between the industrial
partners and Fasilkom UI for future
cooperation.
2. Develop a collaboration-based research
between Fasilkom UI and industrial partners
to improve the research in the both sides.
3. Develop new products based on local
content of Indonesia.
3.3 Target Audience
Research teams supervised by researchers from
Fasilkom UI and industrial partners.
