DEE Qualifications• Bachelor’s or advanced engineering
degree
• Minimum 8 years of full-time professional experience (typical 12-15 years)
• Professional Engineer’s (P.E.) license• Successful completion of written and oral
exams• Required continuing practice and
ongoing professional education

• 200 applications to first Board meeting (1956)
• Over 1,000 certified members by start of 1960s.
• Peak membership at 2,600 in 1990
• Dropped to 1,900 in 2001
• Increased to 2,300 in 2004
