What To Do With Old Lodge Secretary Books

We recently had a lodge secretary ask what she could do with some old lodge secretary books that she had inherited through her lodge and another that had merged.

was contacted to see if their library could preserve any of the old records. His response was: Yes, wed be pleased to add them to our collection. Feel free to have the lodge leadership contact me if there are any questions or concerns. Also, you can let them know that they can access them whenever they want all they have to do is ask. If you have books, photos, or old secretary minutes that you would like to see preserved, please contact Dave at: 1-319-362-8500, x202 or e-mail: dmuhlena@NCSML.org to discuss what you have prior to sending any materials.

A LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARDDear Brothers and Sisters,

Last month our President, Howard Wolfe, sent me a letter notifying me that he is going to retire effective July 1, 2013. When I received Brother Wolfes letter, I immediately informed the Board of Directors of his decision.

The Board of Directors has started the process of searching for a qualified candidate for this position. This is a very important decision to make for the future of wfla and we will look outside of the Association as well as within for a qualified candidate. We anticipate that the new acting president will be hired before July 1, 2013 and will then have at least two years to

lead the Association and prove their leadership skills to the members. We intend for this individual to be the nominee presented by the Board of Directors at the Convention in July 2015, and elected to serve by our members.

I just want to conclude with saying that for the past 44 years Brother Wolfe has always been very dedicated to his job and the Association. We have been very fortunate to have had him here at wfla but as he has told many of us, family comes first, and we all have to make decisions in our lives that puts family first. We understand and respect his decision to spend more time with his wife Judy and his grandchildren and we wish him the very best.

Thank you Jim for your years of service to the Association. You should be very proud, as we all are, of wflas success in being financially sound and ability to help our members and our communities in so many ways.

    Fraternally,

Duane J. JirikChairman of the Board

A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENTRecently I notified Chairman of the Board, Duane Jirik, that I felt it was time for me to retire and I plan to do so July 1, 2013.

I picked this date to allow the Board ample time to find a qualified candidate. It is important for the members of wfla to have the opportunity to meet and get to know the person who the Board plans to nominate for president before the next National Convention. I am confident the Board will select a person with the necessary leadership and management skills to guide the Association into the future. The new acting President will have two years to lead the Association prior to the Convention.

I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to serve the Association for over 44 years. I appreciate the confidence that the Board of Directors placed in me by allowing me to serve as president and have been blessed with having an excellent management team, staff, agents, and wfla members who have supported me for many years.

Ive enjoyed my tenure with the Association and I will miss the contact with the board, the management team, the staff, agents and most of all, the members of the Association.

I look forward to the time when my wife Judy and I can travel and spend time with our grandchildren. We both want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the friendship and the fraternalism that youve shown both of us throughout the years.

    Fraternally yours,

    Howard J. WolfePresident
