- April: Deutsche Börse acquires, through Eurex (an association between DB and Swiss SE), the American International Securities Exchange (ISE) for US$ 2,8 mm, creating the biggest transatlantic derivatives market in the world

- June: LSE and Borsa Italiana announce merger

- July: CME and CBOT complete merger

- October: After the approval of the shareholders in august 8th, LSE and Borsa Italiana complete merger
