What Is A Migraine?

Headaches to most seem like nothing more than a mild

inconvenience that interrupts their day briefly, so they

pop a few aspirin and twenty minutes later they are back

on track physically. However, not everyone that

experiences a headache considers them to be nothing

more than a mild inconvenience; in fact, millions of men

and women of all ages suffer from an intense headache

that literally leaves them immobilized. For those that have never experienced such an intense

headache such as a migraine it is difficult to imagine just how painful one can be.

A migraine headache is more than just an excuse to get out of responsibilities for a day, migraine

headaches are in truth a chronic neurological disorder. A migraine headache is caused by an

enlargement of blood vessels that creates a series of chemicals to be released and attack arteries

in the brain. Once the chemicals have been released to wreak their havoc, the enlarging of the

arteries begins to send painful symptoms that only magnifies until the arteries have stopped

expanding or migraine relief has been found.

The pain associated with a migraine headache is so intense that a person becomes increasingly

sensitive to light and sound which in return leaves them unable to function in an environment

where light and noise are common occurrences. The increased sensitivity to light and sound

makes it a challenge for one suffering from a migraine headache to function in their workplace

effectively when all they desire is a nice quiet dark place to lie down until the throbbing stops

and sanity returns.

A persons need to escape to a dark and quiet place while being inflicted with a migraine

headache could be due to the sympathetic nervous system in the body being activated. The

desires, feelings that come naturally to humans as part of their natural way of dealing or coping

with stress and pain is often associated with one’s sympathetic nervous system. Once the

sympathetic nervous system has been activated, symptoms begin to develop that hinder one’s

functionality at home and work.

Migraines inflict more than twenty million people causing the family unit to suffer a loss of

financial income, productivity as well as valuable time together as a result of the painful

migraine symptoms that hinders one’s ability to maintain composure when being inflicted with a

migraine headache.

What Are The Symptom Of A Migraine?

Migraine headaches are often a recurring condition, therefore, it is important that those

individuals that suffer from frequent migraine headaches become familiar with the warning signs

that a migraine is in the process of developing. By recognizing the warning signs or symptoms

commonly related to a migraine, an individual is then able to prepare his or herself emotionally

and physically for the onset of intense head pain. Awareness can limit the immobilizing affect

that a migraine headache can have and steps to finding migraine relief can be taken. Migraines

can last up to seventy two hours and are more common in women than men and if preventative

steps are not taken then time away from work and family will be the consequence on top of the

obvious pain.

Symptoms of a migraine headache can vary from moderate to intense and can affect people

differently, however, listed below are the more common symptoms associated with and

described by migraine headache sufferers.

An intense throbbing, pounding feeling typically located on one side of the forehead

o Pain can also generate in the back of the head

o Pain can formulate right above one eye

The pain is often described as unilateral meaning the pain is typically felt or experienced

on one side of the head.

o Reports have shown that about one third of most migraine headaches are

described as being felt on both sides of the head also referred to as bilateral.

o The pain felt from the migraine on one side of the head can alternate to the other

side of the head during the next migraine attack. If you have frequent migraine

attacks on the same side of the head please speak with your doctor immediately

this could imply something more serious is occurring.

Nausea

Vomiting

Diarrhea

Paleness

Coldness in the hands and feet

Sensitivity to light and sound

Migraine headaches are often spurred by daily activities that though seem small and insignificant

can actually increase the onset of a migraine such as walking upstairs for example. Migraine

headaches often start revealing signs several hours and even days before attacking in full force.

A shocking 40% of most migraines have preemptive signs before striking an individual helpless.

Preemptive Warning Signs

Most migraines sufferers experience migraines on a recurring basis, thus making it important that

they are made aware of what preemptive warning signs are and how they can lessen their

chances of suffering from an intense migraine that renders them immobile. The warning sides

that tell if a migraine is on the verge of breaking through may be overlooked or explained away,

however if these warning signs are noted and charted, migraines can be stopped before they get

started.

Sleepiness is often explained away by an overactive brain, bed discomfort and a million

other reasons but drowsiness is a sign that a migraine might be in the near future.

Sudden irritability or changes in mood. Irritability can often be chalked away as not

having had a good night’s rest, be cautious of overlooking unexplained irritability.

Fatigue

Bouts of depression

Obsessive yawning

Cravings for foods high in sugar of lathered in salt

Symptoms such as the ones mentioned might go unnoticed by most, but those that suffer with

frequent migraine headaches should take note of the warnings signs, chart them and prepare for

the onset of a migraine headache.

How Can I Tell The Difference Between A Headache And A Migraine?

The onset of a headache is nuisance and can cause productivity to temporarily stop until it

subsides but how do you differentiate between a headache and a migraine? Though both a

headache and a migraine have some similarities, there are a few distinct characteristics of a

headache that sets it apart from a migraine. Pay close attention to the next few bullet points they

should explain in more detail what a headache vs. a migraine looks like.

A headache attacks quickly and with no warning where as a migraine we learned has

preemptive warning signs.

Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours.

A headache though bothersome does not typically result in a loss of productivity and the

inability to function.

Headaches feel more like a pulsing feeling inside your head; migraines on the other hand

tend to be felt only on one side of the head.

A bout of irritability might occur with a headache but typically resides after some over

the counter medicine has been taken, sadly those suffering with a migraine do not bounce

back as quickly.

Feelings of nausea, dizziness, sensitivity to light and sound are all characters of a

migraine and will not be present with a headache.

Most headaches are often short lived with no cause for concern. There are times when a

headache causes severe tension in the facial muscles putting a strain on the neck, shoulders and

eyes. These headaches are called tension headaches and can be treated with over the counter

medication. Some forty million people suffer with headaches throughout a given year making

headaches a very common complaint, the concern is not that a headache has occurred but the

frequency of the headache as well as the length in which the headache last. If frequent headaches

(not migraines) occur and last longer than a few hours, medical attention might be needed in

order to insure that the pain being felt is truly a headache and not something more.

Diagnosing Migraines

Migraines are not an exact science, research evolving around the topic of migraines is constantly

being unveiled and new information is then tested to see if accurate. The diagnosis of migraines

is often done by the symptoms of a migraine; when migraine symptoms are felt often enough to

warrant concern or remark. Another clue as to whether or not the pain being felt in your head has

to do with a migraine (or just your rowdy children) is if you fall into any of the common risk

factors for migraines such as your gender, age and family history.

Headaches and migraines tend to follow a pattern (which we have discussed in this book) so if

you are or have experienced symptoms not common to headaches or migraines such as a loss of

hearing, vision or any other sensory issue seek medical attention to insure that nothing more

complex is going on in your nervous system.

Common Reasons Why One May Experience A Migraine

Migraine sufferers, just like other patient diagnosed with an illness or condition begin to

formulate questions about their condition and want their questions answered in order to better

understand how one can maintain normality when in such intense pain. For years, doctors and

scientist have been trying to discover what causes some individuals to experience chronic

migraines but have turned up empty handed. Through clinical studies and research, doctors and

scientist have come to understand that though they are unable to pinpoint exact cause’s

biological events may play a role in the development of a migraine.

Migraines can be triggered and if knowledge exists of what triggers the onset of migraines,

possible migraine prevention could occur. Migraine triggers differ from person to person as well

as from male to female. For example: A women during her monthly menstrual could experience

a decrease in estrogen affecting her normal blood levels resulting in the start of a migraine also

referred to as a menstrual migraine.

A migraine trigger could be influenced by one’s environment or any physiological upset that can

lead to the onset of a headache; those who are prone to headaches are more susceptible. Migraine

Page 7: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

7 | P a g e

triggers are difficult to distinguish and very few migraine sufferers are aware that they even

exist.

Take note of the migraine triggers listed below, clinical studies have shown that the triggers

listed are common ones that if aware of could help lessen the debilitating effect a migraine could

have.

Triggers

Stress

Sleep – one’s sleep habits have much to do with migraines, whether it is sleep

deprivation, too much sleep or broken up sleep they are all connected to headaches.

Studies have shown that when sleep habits are improved migraine headaches are less

current and have shorter duration.

Fasting – caution should always be had when headache prone individuals take to fasting.

A lack of nutrients to the body can reduce blood sugar levels setting off a series of stress-

related hormones.

Hormones – for women who experience migraines once a month around the time of their

menstrual may be aware of menstrual migraines and how they can affect functionality.

Some women during their monthly cycle lose estrogen and the loss of estrogen sets off a

chemical imbalance and the result is a migraine.

Lighting – lighting has been known to enhance mood and is often used as a mood

enhancer however, flashing, bright high intensity and visually stimulating light sources

can be a factor in developing painful migraine symptoms.

Smells – cigarette smoke

Alcohol – Tyramine is a chemical found in wine that has been proven to activate a

migraine quicker than if no alcohol was used.

Foods

o Aged cheese

o Chocolate

Page 8: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

8 | P a g e

Caffeine – often used to help improve energy levels can have the reverse effect on

headache prone people. Caffeine in small doses may have little effect on migraine

sufferers but if overindulgence is had one can expect regular migraines.

Risk Factors

Migraines, we have learned, can be triggered by one’s environment or a physiological change,

now we are going to go a step further and talk about common risk factors. Migraine headaches

can happen to anyone; however, there are factors that play a part in increasing the risk of some

individuals such as:

Gender – out of the millions of people that suffer with migraines 18% more of the migraine

sufferers are women. This statistic is not limited to the United States only but relevant to women

across the globe. During childhood or adolescents, the frequencies of migraines between sexes

were not that different but a drastic increase in migraine headaches in females become apparent

as they neared puberty.

The reason being that as a female enters puberty her hormone levels and especially her estrogen

levels increase. It is common for women to complain of migraines during her monthly menstrual,

these headaches are often referred to as menstrual migraines.

Age – one’s age can be a risk factor, if you are between the ages of 15 and 55 you are still in an

age group where migraine headaches can be common occurrences. During childhood, migraines

are less frequent but not nonexistent. Research has shown that children who suffer from

migraines typically will grow out of them as they age, unless other factors are involved.

Family Genetics – a rather large statistic says that those individuals that come from a family

history of migraine sufferers will most likely be at risk of suffering from chronic migraines as

well.

Medical Concerns – men and women that have a history of medical concerns such as

depression, anxiety, stroke, epilepsy and high blood pressure are more susceptible to migraines

than people who have not suffered with any of the listed medical concerns.

If you mentally checked off one or two of the risk factors as factors or brackets that you fall into,

you might want to pay close attention to the next half of this book as we discuss whether or not

migraines can be prevented, steps to reducing migraines, where to go for migraine relief,

medication offered for migraine relief and lastly we are going to look at a natural safe alternative

for treating migraines.

Are Migraines Preventable?

I wonder how many people reading this book scanned the table of contents for this topic and

jumped right to this point in the book without having read any of the other information. I can’t

say I blame you; migraine headaches are very painful and make functioning nearly impossible.

There are a few steps one can take to reduce the chances of developing a migraine such as:

1. Avoid Migraine Triggers

2. Preventative Medication

Not very exciting or promising is it? The truth is one could spend every hour of their day trying

to avoid triggers and common risk factors but neither of the steps mentioned is 100% effective in

preventing a migraine from creeping in and causing pain and frustration.

I hope you are not sadly disappointed after reading this information, if you keep reading, I

promise there is more for you to learn about migraine prevention and new information has

surfaced regarding migraine relief and now migraine suffers are finding migraine relief! DON’T

skip ahead, you could miss out on important information.

Approaches To Migraine Prevention

Chronic migraine sufferers are looking for a way to prevent a migraine from settling in and

making a mess out of their life for seventy two hours. There are several approaches one suffering

with intense migraine pain may take in hopes of lessening the duration and intensity level of a

migraine. The most common preventative measures are avoiding triggers or factors that can set

off a migraine or take medication to help lessen the chances of a migraine developing.

Page 10: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

10 | P a g e

Individuals that suffer from mild migraines on rare occasions tend to treat their migraine

headaches with over the counter medications. Over-the-counter medication can help relieve

migraine pain temporarily and should be administered as instructed by the manufacturer. There

are two types of over the counter medication.

1. Acetaminophen (a.k.a. Tylenol)

2. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

Acetaminophen

Acetaminophen is often taken to help reduce mild pain such as: headaches, backaches, muscle

aches toothaches and even mild cold symptoms. Acetaminophen is a pain reliever that relieves

pain by changing the way the body feels pain by lowering the body temperature. Caution needs

to be had when taking Acetaminophen, if taken in large doses over a long period of time damage

can be caused to the liver and the kidneys.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID)

NSAID is typically used in conditions where chronic pain is felt. The purpose of NSAID is to

relieve pain where inflammation has occurred. There are two forms of NSAID:

1. Aspirin – examples of over the counter medication that have aspirin would be:

a. Aleve

b. Motrin

c. Advil

2. Non-aspirin – examples of non-aspirin over the counter pills would include:

a. Ibuprofen

b. Advil

c. Motrin IB

Page 11: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

11 | P a g e

You might be wondering what the differences are between over the counter medicine that has

aspirin vs. the medicine that is aspirin free. The difference is that medicine containing aspirin

prevents the platelets from becoming blocked and forming blood clots. The downside to large

doses of aspirin is that it increases bleeding but aspirin is often used to help prevent heart attacks

and strokes.

Though medicating with over-the-counter medicine would be the ideal way to treat a migraine,

there are those cases that need something more drastic in their approach to treating a migraine

headache. This approach could include prescription medication, migraine surgery or nerve

muscle removal.

Prescription Medication

Over-the-counter medicine has its place and works wonderfully at treating some common

ailments, but when it comes to severe intense migraine headaches, let’s face it there are times

when over the counter medicine does not even come close to scratching the surface. When

medicines such as: Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, Aleve and Ibuprofen no longer has any positive effect

on the intense migraine pain being felt the need for prescription medication might be appropriate.

It is important that migraines sufferers realize that medication prescribed for migraine relief is

not a cure for migraine headaches themselves but are used for one of two purposes:

1. Relieve Symptoms

2. Prevent Attacks

A relief of migraine symptoms can be found by the use of one of the over the counter medicines

we have already mentioned earlier in this book and was briefly touched on in the paragraph

above. Keep in mind that no prescription medication can prevent a migraine 100% but there are

those prescription medications available that can help reduce the number of migraine attacks

experienced as well as lessen the level of pain felt by the migraine sufferer. A few of the

Page 12: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

12 | P a g e

medications that a doctor might prescribe to assist with lessening the occurrence of migraines

would be:

Anti-depressants

Anti-Seizure Medication

Blood Pressure Medication

Herbal

Migraine Surgery

Migraine surgery has been a treatment option for those individuals who simply do not respond

well to medication and feel that their quality of life is habitually hindered as a result of their

migraine headaches. Deciding to undergo migraine surgery implies that a surgical cauterization

of the superficial blood vessels in your scalp will need to be had in order to limit and possibly

remove all signs of migraine pain forever. However, before the surgery could happen, a doctor

must first determine with absolute certainty that it is indeed the superficial blood vessels causing

the intense migraine pain before operating.

Trigger Sites

There is reason to believe that by the removing of muscles or nerves in certain areas that are

considered trigger sites could be helpful in relieving migraines. Trigger sites are said to exist

where sensory nerves are stimulated by a certain muscle, due to the stimulation caused by the

muscle a series of painful symptoms begin to develop thus creating a migraine. Migraine surgery

such as this one is not often considered as a migraine headache treatment plan unless no other

form of migraine treatment is providing the needed relief to improve quality of life.

Page 13: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

Miscellaneous

Selecting a migraine headache treatment plan can be a challenge, there are several options and

the fear of selecting the wrong one might paralyze a patient. Migraine prevention is by trial and

error and the first several prevention methods may or may not work, the important thing is to

keep searching and testing out various therapies until something clicks and works. Maybe you

feel strongly against the use of prescription medication, migraine surgery or any treatment that is

unnatural and or addictive yet still suffer with debilitating migraines, what treatment options are

available to you?

For those looking for a safer more natural approach to treating migraine headaches pay close

attention to the following bullet points.

Chiropractic Manipulation

Physiotherapy

Massage Therapy

Acupuncture

Migraine Support Formula

Prophylactic Medication

The use of prophylactic medication can be somewhat helpful as well in reducing the

reoccurrences of migraine headaches. Prophylactic medicine is taken daily as a preventative

medication. Prophylactic medication is not effective when taken once a migraine has developed.

Its job is to help reduce migraine frequency not the pain associated with migraines. A few

examples of Prophylactic Medication are:

Beta Blockers

Calcium-channel Blockers

Tricyclic Antidepressants

Antiserotonin Agents

Page 14: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

14 | P a g e

Anticonvulsants

Speak with your doctor about prophylactic medication and if whether or not he or she feels you

would make a good candidate for prophylactic medication treatment.

A Closer Look At Prescription Medication

When a body experiences a migraine, the

body undergoes a physiological change. We

mentioned earlier how a migraine is brought

on by the enlarging of the blood vessels in the

brain and it is because of the enlarged blood

vessels that migraine symptoms are felt. The

body begins to feel discomfort and unease

when physiological changes such as migraine

headaches occur creating a need inside the body for relief. Reaching for a bottle of Motrin or

Advil might help provide some form of pain relief, but this type of treatment does not help with

the physiological issues that have created the migraine.

Prescription medication should be one of the last treatments tried in helping relieve migraine

headaches; however, until recent years, migraine sufferers had very few options in relieving their

migraine pain. New prescription medication called triptans are now available on the market and

are geared toward relieving migraine pressure. Triptans have two important abilities:

1. They are able to constrict blood vessels.

2. They create an upset in the process which leads into a migraine by disturbing the

sequence of chemicals that inflict pain or irritation to the nerves.

Page 15: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

15 | P a g e

Triptans

Triptans are a collection of tryptamine-based drugs. Tryptamine is a monoamine alkaloid that

can be found in certain vegetation such as plants, fungi and animals. Triptans are used as a tool

to prevent migraines from being successful in completely immobilizing an individual. Triptans

consist of:

Sumatriptan (Imitrex, Imigran, Cinie, Illument, Migriptan)

Rizatriptan (Maxalt),

Naratriptan (Amerge, Naramig)

Zolmitriptan (Zomig)

Eletriptan (Relpax)

Elmotriptan (Axert, Almogran)

Frovatriptan (Frova, Migard, Frovamig)

Avitriptan

Because of triptans unique ability to attach to the serotonin receptors on the blood vessels and the

surrounding nerves, they can help reduce and in some cases completely stop migraine headaches

from occurring. We mentioned several triptans and you might be feeling somewhat overwhelmed

and unsure as to which one is worth speaking to your doctor about. The most commonly used

triptan and the one with the longest use history would be sumatriptan. Sumatriptan can be taken

orally, by injection or through inhalation.

Doctors will not go around prescribing triptans for everyone complaining that they suffer from

migraines. Triptans are typically prescribed to migraine sufferers that experience moderate to

severe migraine pain and even then other forms of migraine treatment will be discussed and

ruled out before a doctor will recommend or suggest a triptan.

Benefits of Use

If used correctly, Triptans will reduce the amount of pain felt and increase in its effectiveness.

Triptans should be administered when the early signs and symptoms of a migraine begin to be

Page 16: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

16 | P a g e

felt. Taking one after the pain has settled in will reduce the effectiveness and increase the

chances for side effects as well as a migraine relapse.

The Down Side

Triptans have been useful in the treatment of migraine pain, however there are a few risks

involved that those considering treating their migraines with triptans ought to be aware of. The

most common side effects associated with triptans are but not limited to:

Drowsiness

Facial Reddening

Fatigue

Tightening In The Chest

Tightening In The Throat

Dizziness

The role Triptans play in releasing migraine pain is due to the affect triptans have on the

restriction of blood vessels or the narrowing of them to prevent them from enlarging and creating

migraine pain. Though narrowing is part of their job, it can also have a reverse effect by not only

narrowing the arteries in the head but also create a narrowing of the arteries in the heart. This

becomes increasingly dangerous for those individuals that have already experienced some form

of coronary narrowing. The narrowing caused by the triptans could lead to further narrowing

resulting in a heart attack or stroke.

Even if you consider yourself a healthy individual, be aware that if your doctor is considering

prescribing triptans to help with your migraine pain he or she might prescribe a full body

evaluation first in order to insure that everything is ok physically before he or she gives a green

light on using triptans.

Page 17: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

17 | P a g e

Ergots

Ergots are similar to triptans in that they too constrict blood vessels, the difference is that

triptans tend to constrict blood vessels in the brain whereas ergots are known to restrict blood

vessels more in the heart and other parts of the body making them not nearly as safe of a

treatment as triptans. Ergots have been known to induce nausea, vomiting and contractions in the

uterus that makes them very unsafe for pregnant women.

Food For Thought

Time out! In the last several pages we have discussed what a migraine is, can migraines be

prevented and what forms of migraine relief are available and out of the migraine relief options

which ones are safe and which ones have serious irreversible side effects. Needless to say we

covered some heavy topics and for some the urge to stop reading and just throw in the towel on

ever finding a migraine relief is very tempting; plus, after everything you just read about

prescription medication and the drawbacks to using them, I can’t say I blame you but don’t give

up just yet. The information you are about to read could change your life.

The information contained in the last few pages of this book has everything to do with finding

migraine relief safely and naturally along with simple steps that could help reduce your migraine

occurrences.

Simple Steps To Help Reduce Migraine Occurrences

Information is a great thing to possess and for those suffering with chronic migraines information

regarding risk factors, triggers and even information regarding what physiological changes occur

during a migraine is vital information that can be useful. There comes a point when factual

information has reached its limit and the need for application of the information attained is then

applied.

Men and women who suffer from moderate to intense migraine pain need to take a few practical

steps to help reduce their migraine occurrences. By simply making a few changes to their normal

Page 18: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

18 | P a g e

routine, men and women will notice fewer migraine attacks during a single month. Some simple

steps to reducing migraine headaches are:

A set scheduled time for going to bed and waking each morning.

Having a daily exercise regime – exercise has proven to help improve quality of life for

individuals suffering from various conditions from diabetes to migraine headaches.

Individuals who are not physically fit are more prone to migraine attacks.

Avoid skipping meals and long bouts of fasting.

Avoid stress (if possible) – exercise can help release negative endorphins and research

has proven that daily exercise can help improve mood and improve clarity of thought.

Refrain from overuse of caffeine do not consume more than two caffeinated beverages in

a given day.

Bright and flashing lights are often associated with migraines therefore keep protective

eyewear on hand and avoid places with flashing lights.

Treating Migraine Pain Naturally

Finding a natural way to treat migraine headaches is a safer and healthier alternative than

prescription medication. Prescription medication can be addictive and have a negative

physiological effect on other parts of the body that could ultimately shorten one’s life

expectancy. With all the concerns regarding prescription medication, it then probes the question,

“Can migraine headaches be treated effectively naturally?” The answer is YES! Migraines are

nothing new and twenty plus years ago prescription medication was not as readily available to

help treat migraine headaches, so what did migraine suffers do?

Before the dawn of modern medicine, Mother Nature was the essence of migraine treatment. For

centuries, Mother Nature’s bounty has produced everything one needs in order to find migraine

relief but somewhere along the trip from the nineteenth century into the twenty first century we

forgot how important and valuable Mother Nature could be in offering treatment solutions for

common ailments that plague millions of people each year. With her powerful natural bounty,

she offers up herbs, flowers, seeds, leaves, roots, enzymes and even minerals that all possess

Page 19: 1 | P a g emigrainetreatmentgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/...Migraines can last up to three days headaches a few hours. A headache though bothersome does not typically result in

19 | P a g e

powerful natural ingredients to help increase good health and heal chronic conditions such as

migraine headaches.

Consider the ancient medicinal practices of the Chinese and even the effect that European

medicine has had or is starting to have here in America. Scientists are going back to Mother

Nature to gain her wisdom on how to effectively treat migraine sufferers. It is from her healing

powers that migraine relief can be found. New information is constantly surfacing on how a

natural dietary supplement such as the Migraine Support Formula is healing migraine headaches.

The problem lies not in the natural ingredients or the formula itself but with the individual.

Everyone is looking for a quick fix hence that is why prescription medications became so

popular so fast. Why? – Instant pain relief. Though prescription medication might provide

instant relief to migraine suffers they do not offer the healing powers that a natural treatment

such as the Migraine Support Formula can offer. Mother Nature has the ability to heal migraine

pain not just offer a temporary fix; so, why would you settle for temporary relief when you can

never suffer with migraine pain and its debilitating effect ever again?

How Can I Know That A Migraine Support Formula Will Work?

Anytime you are considering some form of a migraine

treatment fear of product failure might be a reality. In cases

where prescription medication and other alternatives such

as acupuncture and massage therapy are used to treat

migraine headaches, it might end in frustration with little to

no pain relief. The difference between other forms of

migraine relief treatment and choosing a migraine support

formula is the powerful natural ingredients that have been

carefully researched and clinically tested to provide

migraine sufferers the ultimate migraine relief.

The migraine support formula is a product that resulted out

of the love one man had for his wife. After years of watching his wife suffer from chronic

migraines, Jim Sparling made the commitment to finding a relief for his wife’s chronic migraine

headaches. In hopes of finding a migraine relief formula different from the prescription

medications his wife had been taking for years he gathered together several researchers and

together they set off on a journey that would eventually lead them to the Migraine Support

Formula.

Before jumping into the formula itself and the natural ingredients that the Migraine Support

Formula contain, it is important that you become aware of how Jim Sparling and his team of

researchers came to the conclusive decision that the Migraine Support Formula and the

ingredients found in the formula are what is necessary to drastically reduce if not permanently

remove migraine pain from your life forever!

In order to understand what causes or triggers migraines, the research team was developed and

together they set out to look into what the medical world was doing to treat migraines and once

they got their answers they then moved on to research every clinical trial done on migraine

prevention around the globe. They looked at the research involving both synthetic and natural

supplements that had been tested to relieve migraine pain. Careful analysis was then conducted

on the current products on the market claiming to offer migraine sufferers permanent migraine

relief this product analysis involved prescription medication, over the counter medicine as well

as natural supplements. The collaboration between the researchers, scientist, doctors and

universities led the migraine support research team to several natural ingredients that solid

clinical trials had proven to be most effective in relieving migraine pain.

A year of intense research, interviews, and scientific experimentation paid off and the

development of the Migraine Support Formula followed. The Migraine Support Formula is

packed full of natural ingredients with the sole purpose of healing. This formula is backed by

solid clinical studies and is currently aiding men and women with finding long lasting permanent

migraine relief.

Now that you have read the history of the Migraine Support Formula, you are probably anxious

to read about the formula itself and what botanical ingredients found in Mother Nature has

proven to be so powerful that is can provide long lasting if not permanent migraine relief. Don’t

check out just yet in the next section we will unlock the powerful ingredients found in the

Migraine Support Formula and how each of the ingredients work to provide the ultimate

migraine relief when they are intricately woven together.

Formula

it a safe supplement that can be taken every day to help with the prevention of migraine

headaches with no adverse side effects that are commonly associated with other migraine

treatments such as prescription medication. This formula contains only the natural ingredients

that have shown through clinical studies to be the most effective in treating migraine symptoms.

The natural ingredients found in the Migraine Support Formula are:

Water-soluble riboflavin

Magnesium citrate

Feverfew

Ginger

Coenzyme Q10

Ginko Biloba

White Willow Bark

Valerian

Butterbur

5 – Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP)

Vitamin B3 (Niacin)

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)

Riboflavin

Riboflavin is also known as vitamin B2 and is helpful in relieving migraine pain because B2 is as

crucial component in helping tissue respiration and the generation of energy metabolism from

proteins, carbs and fats. The Migraine Support Formula contains 400 mg of riboflavin. No toxic

or adverse effects of high riboflavin intake are known in humans.

Magnesium citrate

Research has shown that those who suffer from frequent migraine attacks typically have lower

magnesium levels. One can increase their intracellular magnesium level by taking an oral

magnesium supplement. Tests have shown that added magnesium citrate used effectively in

combination with riboflavin can have a positive effect on migraine pain. However, if magnesium

citrate is taken in a dosage higher than 300mg side effect such as the ones listed below may

occur.

Diarrhea

Gastric Irritation

Feverfew

Feverfew is commonly associated with migraine relief due to its natural ability to obstructing the

release of blood vessel dilating substances from the platelets that create migraine pain. Feverfew

also prevents inflammatory substances from developing and increasing migraine pain levels.

When researched, information revealed that feverfew can help reduce vomiting when undergoing

a migraine as well as decrease the severity of the migraine attack.

Ginger

One reason why triptans have been so successful in relieving migraine pain is their innate ability

to attach to serotonin receptors helping aid in reducing the triggers that cause migraine pain. We

learned that though this might be helpful in relieving temporary migraine pain it is not a cure nor

is it 100% safe. Ginger on the other hand is 100% natural, safe and has the ability to attach to

human serotonin receptors to help reduce migraine triggers that cause migraine pain.

Ginger has also proven to help alleviate symptoms such as nausea and when combined with

feverfew they are an effective tool against fighting off migraine symptoms.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 also referred to as CoQ10 is a vitamin like substance that helps generate energy

in the body in the form of ATP. Almost 95%

Ginko Biloba

Ginko Biloba is a powerful antioxidant made popular by its ability to help improve blood

circulation in both the body and the brain. Ginko Biloba is possibly one of most well-known

herbal remedies and can be used in the treatment of migraine headaches. The reason that Ginko

Biloba makes for such a great treatment options is its ability to hinder platelet aggregation. This

powerful antioxidant possesses flavonoids and terpenoids which have been tested to show that

they help dilate blood vessels which in return surges blood flow. After clinical studies were done

on the use of Ginko Biloba as a treatment for migraines information was returned stating that

migraine attacks were drastically reduced because of the use of Ginko Biloba.

White Willow Bark

White Willow Bark takes on the role of an anti-inflammatory as well as reduces pain caused by

constraining prostaglandins.

Valerian

Valerian is a root that has been uncovered as a form of muscle relaxer. The use of Valerian is

helpful in reducing stress, anxiety and even insomnia.

Butterbur

Butterbur is an herb that when used in a clinical study showed that within sixteen weeks of use

the number of migraine attacks were reduced by half. Research from this study also concluded

that the severity of migraine pain typically felt was drastically reduced.

5 – Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP)

5 – Hydroxytryptophan also known as 5- HTP is an amino acid found in food and is a forerunner

to the neurotransmitter serotonin. By adding more 5-HTP one can raise their serotonin levels in

the brain while also increasing their endorphin levels helping aide in the overall improvement of

their mood and disposition. It has been proven that those suffering with chronic migraines

typically have low serotonin and low endorphin levels. The thought process is that low serotonin

and endorphins levels make it extremely challenging to tolerate or endure pain.

Vitamin B3 (Niacin)

Vitamin B3 is responsible for several reactions that a body experiences. B3 helps release energy

from carbohydrates, fats and cholesterol while regulating blood sugar levels. B3 when used

creates a flushing of the face and with the flushing of the face the migraine is flushed right out of

the system. One study done on the benefits of Vitamin B3 in relieving migraines revealed that

81% of people suffering from migraines found relief when treating their migraine with B3.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)

Vitamin B6 works as histamine and has shown to help lessen histamine-induced migraines by

increasing diamine oxidase activity.

After reading the wealth of information listed about each of the natural ingredients found in the
