Poetry Anthology Final Project Requirements

What is included in your anthology:

• Original poems written by you• 2 poems written by other poets• Paragraph analysis responses• Title and cover page• Table of contents

8 original poems:

• These are poems written by YOU!• Can be poems written in class, on

the unit, in your spare time&• Must involve editing your work to

create a polished, final poem • All original poems must include at

least 2 poetic devices• Alliteration, onomatopoeia,

imagery, metaphor, simile, personification, symbolism...

•  Must include at least one elegy, one ode, and one concrete poem.

2 poems by other poets:

• The purpose of this is to have 2 other pieces of work that you like and feel connect with your own work

• You have the choice of any poet/poem, one of the poems can be by a fellow scholar peer, but at least one poem must be by a published poet

• Books of poetry will be provided to select from

Paragraph analysis responses:

• Once you have completed your polished original poems and selected your 2 other poems, it’s time to analyze

• Select poems to analyze, one of the poems must be from one of the other poets

• Each analysis response will be at least 1 paragraph and you will answer:• What poetic devices does the

author use?• How does the poet use these

poetic devices? • What do you think is the meaning

of the poem and do you connect with it?

Title and cover page

• You will create a title for your anthology and create a title page

• Make sure this connects with your poetry!

Table of contents

• Anthologies are organized displays of work, so you will have a table of contents

• List your poems and the page number

•  Your original poems must include at least 2 poetic devices

•  Within your collection of original poems you must have at least 1 ode, 1 elegy, and 1 concrete poem

•  Your poems must show signs of revision/editing!

If you finalize all of your original poems today, then you can move onto selecting 2 poems from other poets• Look in your Notes/Classwork sections to see

if there are any poems that stand out to you that you want to include in your anthology

• You must include at least 2 poems from other poets

• You can use former scholar poetry or even poetry written by scholars on your unit

• If you have a favorite poet we can look up his/her poems online

• Check out the poetry anthologies on the bookshelf!

• These poems should fit in with your own original poems
