Aviation Management OfficeMission Statement

The Aviation Management Office is responsible for the flight operations management at Ames Research Center and will function as the first-level line management organization that is responsible to ensure flight readiness and operational safety for all flight operations that involve either NASA aircraft, NASA pilots or the airfield and its supporting facilities. This function will provide management oversight to ensure compliance with the appropriate NASA Directives and Policies and will report through the Center Operations Directorate to the Center Director.

Aviation Management Office Aviation Experience

Reflects a Managerial/Supervisory/Safety responsibility in the Aviation Management Office. These individuals have a combined 51,000 plus hours of world wide pilot experience, to include 2 former Ames Research Center Chief Pilots, an FAA Part 121 Air Carrier Assistant Chief Pilot, a USAF formally trained maintenance supervisor and extensive world-wide experience in transport, fighter, and rotary wing aircraft.

They also hold ATP Certificates with numerous Type Ratings. Rotary Wing and Flight Engineer Certificates.

Noise Control Program

Noise Hotline:

One person answers all noise complaints.

Use San Jose Airport Aircraft Noise & Operations Management Systems (ANOMS) to assist.

Aircraft noise levels are regulated by FAA Part 36 for commercial aircraft operating into commercial airports. MFA is technically exempted from stage I, II, and III.

Monthly noise complaints average 10.
