Height Modernization Program for Michigan
HMOD has evolved for Michigan over the years:
I. As mechanism to re-establish destroyed passive marks (HMOD Pilot 2005-2006) in highly populated areas.
II. To expand HMOD into a significant portion of the state to expand the benefits in the areas of the states major commerce (“The Corridors of Significance”)
III. Currently funding is to help support upcoming MIDOT transportation projects.

Recommendations:
Outreach – Informing the public and other political entities of the benefits
MIDOT & NGS booth at Michigan State University Farm Expo in 2013
MIDOT & NGS Presentation at Michigan Professional Surveyors Conference.
Partnerships - MIDOT and private sector involvement with IGLD GPS Survey Possible addition of more leveling to NOAA water levels gauges
near MIDOT lines (Muskegon at Great Lakes field office location). OPUS Projects with Adjust Training at MIDOT offices Partnering with county governments and local surveyors to update
the CORS in the state.

Setbacks:
Michigan does not have one central agency that has legislative control over the state. Different departments have different standards than MIDOT
Finding a major funding source that is consistent for year to year operation.
