Your Clinical Requirements
• DEXTER- FOR PRACTICE – A FULL SERIES USING ANALOG FILM AND RINNS. – A FULL SERIES USING DIGITAL – A PARTIAL SERIES USING SNAP A RAYS, KWIK
BITES, STABES, #1 FILM, PEDO FILM
• COMPETENCY- DEXTER– A FULL SERIES USING ANALOG FILM ON DEXTER– MUST PASS WITH AT LEAST AN 80%

Once you pass the Competency….• You may move on to HUMAN PATIENTS!

Human Patients
• HUMAN PATIENTS- – A minimum of two patients must be completed
with at least one of the patients having a full series.
– The images will be either analog or digital depending on whatever the dentist prescribes.

What is a “Full Series”??
• A full or complete series of radiographs can be defines as:– A series of intraoral radiographs that show all of
the “tooth-bearing” areas of the upper and lower jaws.

Tooth-Bearing Areas
• These are the regions of the maxilla (upper jaw) and the mandible (lower jaw), where the 32 teeth of the human dentition are normally located.
• Tooth-bearing areas include:– Dentulous areas:
• Where teeth are present
– Edentulous areas• Where teeth are no longer present

How Many Images?
• The number of images that comprises a full series is dictated by:– Radiographic technique used– Number of teeth present in the mouth
• To include every tooth, and all tooth-bearing areas, a range of 14-20 images may be taken on the adult patient.
