1A ● Hello!

Using the Teacher’s Book: Take some time to read the Introduction and the A–Z and Games extrasections so that both you and your pupils can get the most out of the book.

Using MT (the mother tongue): At this stage most of the classroom language will be in MT but you’ll gradually be able to use more English as children get used to the activities. See the Classroom language section.

Times: The times suggested for activities are approximate indications only.

Pairwork / Groupwork: We have indicated where we suggest the children work in pairs or groups.

Craft / Project work: There is a craft / project activity in section D of each unit and other ideas for craft workare suggested. Make an example of each item in advance so that you can show the children what they’re goingto make before they start in each case.

Before you begin

Allow time for the children to look through the book. Ask them to find their favourite pictures. Ask themif they know any English words already. You could introduce Sing, Point, Say using the Vocabulary Cards.

As the children sing Hello, Lee, hello, Eddie, hello, Bella at the end of the fourth verse, ‘Lee’, ‘Eddie’ and ‘Bella’ jump back into the middle of the circle with ‘Anna’.
