SKY FALCONRY TOUR Sunday, June 27

8:30 AM Meet at Janna’s, 1074 Glenhill Road, El Cajon 92020 9:00 AM Leave for Alpine via Dehesa Rd, Harbison Canyon Rd and Alpine Blvd. Rendezvous at intersection of W Victoria Dr and Victoria Circle 10:00 AM We will caravan into Sky Falconry (2.5 miles of dirt road) with a maximum of 6 cars total so we may have to double up. Please bring your tourings or sedans to carry extra passengers. 10:30 AM Start the Falconry demonstration- Maximum 20 people total. 12 of which may “glove up” and hold a falcon. The rest will be observers. After the demo we will return to our rendezvous point and head into Alpine for lunch. After lunch we will head back to El Cajon. Great News! The Coronado Fourth of July Parade is ON!. Our application is

already submitted and we hope to hear soon as to our place in the parade. We’re limited to just 10 vehicles, so get your reservation in to be counted. So far we’ve have three signed up and expect to hear from more of you. As July 4 is on a Sun-day, the parade will be on Saturday, July 3rd. We had a good general meeting on May 12 at Maggie’s Cafe. After over a year, John Chapman was with us and he is looking forward to a knee replacement in early July. It was also good to see Ron Lambrecht and Dee Reed there. Mem-bers present voted NOT to return to the Automotive Museum for general meetings due mostly to the parking situation which has created a much longer distance to walk. The cost of room rental and the difficulty for a caterer to deliver food sup-plies were also determined as obstacles to meeting there.

Take note of the upcoming activities in the General Meeting minutes. We have several interesting tours planned in the months to come with the Speedster Run in October. Plenty of help is needed for this event as we will require marshals for the two check points and others to help at both the start and finish. The 2024 National Tour is a GO operating out of Sycuan. A committee for this major event will be as-sembled in the next months to make this a memorable experience for all who at-tend.

Finally, I want to express my thanks to Jerry Yeadon who has volunteered to assist Johnny Johnson in the sale of two Model Ts that belonged to her late hus-band, John Szakas. Neither are running, but both are all there, a 1913 Depot Hack and a 19?? pickup. Jerry has been most helpful to several individuals, both in and out of the club, over the past several years. That’s about it for this month. Don’t forget to get your reservation in for the Coronado Parade.

Minutes of the General Meeting – May 12, 2021 Maggie’s Café, San Diego, CA Start Time: 7:08 PM Chuck opened the meeting. Attendees: (17) President Chuck reported the following: The club had a call from the Auto Museum about restarting our meetings there. Chuck had the following comments not-ing pros and cons of the location

• Pros – there has been an elevator installed, making it easier for all of us to get to the 2nd floor

• Cons – (in addition to the money it would cost the club)

The parking lot where we used to park is gone, leaving the back lot for access. That lot is not an easy access, and could be unsafe at night

The difficult access is a problem for any catering service, and we would need to bring our own food After discussion, a motion was made to decline the offer of meeting at the Auto Museum The motion was passed by unanimous decision by all those present. We will continue to meet at Maggie’s

Café for the foreseeable future, including the next board meeting to be held June 9th.

• Chuck also heard that Bob & Tony won the AZ speedster run. The trophy was on display at the meeting and Tony gave a recap of the winning runs, which began with a 173 mile run that went through Zion National Park, with Zion off the clock, allowing everyone to enjoy the beauty of Zion. This was a two day timed run, the 2nd day being about a 60 mile run. Congratulations Bob & Tony for bringing the trophy to CA yet again!

• John Pepe talked about the Utah Canyons (Bryce and Coral Pink Sands) tours that followed the Speedster run. It was through rain, sleet and snow with sunshine in all the park tours

• Kirby talked about the swap meet located in Tulare, which replaced the annual Bakersfield swap meet. Next year it will be held in Tulare again. The meet was followed by tours out of Oakhurst, a couple great garage tours, and then into Yosemite’s Glacier Point.

• I believe we unanimously voted Tony in as the new historian, (well, he may not have voted, so we railroaded Tony into participating)! Looking forward to some new and old stories.

• Greg and Cathy Rising said they miss us and are ready for T’s in Texas! Vice President Janna reported the Sycuan Resort and Casino has agreed to be the host hotel for our National Model T Tour in 2024. They have parking, gasoline and rooms for the number of cars we usually would get on the tour. She is looking for volunteers and ideas for the potential tours we can have, please email her with any suggestions. Interesting places and routes to keep the T’s out of city traffic, while we show off San Diego and vicinity are welcome! Sunshine Chair John W was kind enough to bring John Chapman to the meeting. Great to see you once again John C! Member-at-Large John C. reported he is finally scheduled for the knee surgery he has been waiting for July 6th. The Cajon Classic Cruise is back every Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm through October, and usually has a good turnout of all types of cars. Tour Chairman Kirby reported on the following tours that are on the calendar: May 31st – June 5th is the Golden Gate Tour – contact Steven Chase June 27th – The Falconry tour has now been scheduled! Please contact Kirby if you want to participate, we need to let them know in advance July 3rd – Coronado Parade, need 10 cars, please contact Chuck July 17th - Long Beach Model T Club swap meet July 9th – 14th is the National Model T Tour out of Spokane, WA August 7th a Bonita tour with Ron & Anne Lambrecht of his shop, car collection, and a scavenger hunt. There will be a rally at 10 A.M. with cars leaving every 2 minutes through National City, Chula Vista, and the surrounding areas. Lunch will be available from Pollo Loco for $10. Ron needs a head count please. Water etc. will be available. October 23rd – 24th are the dates decided on for our speedster run, we need volunteers! TBD – Barrett Tour June 16th – 21st, 2024 – National Model T tour will be a San Diego based tour! Treasurer Susie said we have money to cover club business. Editor Cecilia was unable to attend this meeting Secretary Karen is writing by hand, and there are a lot of new tours! Polish up those T’s! Thank you to Carolyn who got us corrected MTFCSD rosters! TULARE YOSEMITE TOUR

Tulare Swap Meet and Tour and Yosemite Tour May 1-4

Well I didn’t really need anything but I went anyway to the Tu-

lare Pre War Swap meet May 1st. This was the rescued Bakers-

field Swap meet and was attached to the Tulare SwapORama

which is open to all years much like the old Big 3 Swap meet.

It was not nearly as big as the Big 3 but had quite a bit of “T”

stuff for those in need. I did run into Mac, and Jerry and Gerry

Sherman but missed Norm and Dolores Kling.

Later in the afternoon, I trailered over to the home and garages of Vic Groah. Vic has a substantial col-

lection of cars from brass era to Mustangs and a 56 Corvette that his wife got as a high school graduation

present! I also met up with Steven Chase and other members of the Redwood Empire Model T Club and

some LA area guys.

The next morning after a full spread breakfast hosted by Vic and his wife we toured to Visalia to the

Blaine Motorsports Foundation. This huge home and warehouse is set in the middle of a walnut grove and is

loaded with an eclectic collection of dozens of cars. The main attraction are the early race cars such as a

1911 National and a 1912 Packard. There are plenty of other cars and memorabilia to examine from Le Mans

race cars to hot rods and classics. Very enjoyable!

We headed back, loaded up and trailered up to Oakhurst, West of Yosemite. This part of the outing was

engineered by the dauntless Steven Chase, proud member of the MTFCSD. This gets to my favorite part of

the trip since Marilyn, our son and 2 granddaughters joined me in Oakhurst for the Yosemite portion of the

tour. Next morning we headed East. Past Wawona we took a little side trip up to Glacier Point, overlooking

Yosemite Valley from about 7500’ elevation. Spectacular! We had about a dozen cars and had a nice photo

op with Half Dome in the background.

Then it was back down the hill with plenty more beautiful views and into the Valley. After getting checked

in at the Curry Village Tent Cabins, my family and I drove the T over to the Ahwahnee Hotel for dinner in

the gorgeous dining room. We went early to beat the crowds but missed Ed Archer’s impromptu yodeling

concert back at Curry Village. Can’t do everything!

Next morning, my family headed back to San Francisco

and I rendezvoused with the rest of our tour group to take some

more pictures and loop around the park before heading back to

Oakhurst. The group stuck together for a good portion of the 70

mile route back until we encountered turns. Then the group went

into full press cat herd mode! I ended up in the rear with no other

Ts in site and somehow ended up getting back to the motel in the

middle of the pack!

I want to thank Steven Chase for organizing this wonderful tour

and contributing to the success of the Tulare Swap meet and

Blaine Tour.

It was a great tour! You should

Come join the Beverly Hillbilly Clampett clan for a Rootin’ Tootin’ Model T Hootenanny

Hootenanny was an old country word for "party." The word is now commonly used in reference to a folk music party, at which folk singers and instrumentalists perform for their own enjoyment with no consideration for others! I wonder what hidden talents reside among the Model T club members. Now that social distancing and self-quarantining are in our rear view mirrors, it is time to dust off those spats, orthopedic sneakers and Mary Jane heels. Polish up the ol’ “T” and steer your way toward Bonita for a knee slapping, rib tickling, and pointless shaggy dog day of buffoonery of the highest order. The fun filled day will begin with a Road Rally commencing and ending at the Lambrecht “Barn Dance Arcade” and will take you through the beautiful neighborhoods and country roads of Bonita and the surrounding South Bay area. You will need to be on the lookout for clues that will assist you in finding your way and in answering questions pertaining to the rally, (yes, it is a competitive event with valuable and highly coveted prizes awarded to the top three finishers) so a navigator with a clip board is strongly recommended. The first car will depart precisely at 10:00AM with cars departing in 2 minute intervals thereafter. This is not a timed event but the incremental departures are meant to keep participants from playing “follow the leader!” Yeah, like that is going to work! Vittles will be available upon your return and will consist of gourmet delicious El Pollo Loco. As Granny would say, “So, how do you like yer possum, fallin' off the bones tender or with a little fight left in it?” Games and events will follow. Norm has agreed to show us how to bare foot grass ski behind a “T.” Bob Anderson will follow him with hospital trusted engine break-in lube to address rug burns. Kirby and I will pick teams for an exciting game of Dodge Yard Darts. John Chapman will demonstrate his latest interpretive dance routine to the music of Buck Owens and Jerry Yeadon will be inking free tattoos. Jerry has agreed to give me a full body tattoo of myself, only taller and with hair. The cost for vittles is $10.00/person and includes El Pollo Loco chicken plus all the fixin’s and a soft drink or water. Multiple ice coolers will be provided for your BYOB. Please provide your own saw horse, tree stump, or other posterior support contraption. Trailer parking along the adjacent and neighboring streets is not a problem with no park n’ ride restrictions anywhere in the vicinity (Tony/John, just busting your chops here…;-)). Plan to drive your “T” through the car port and into the Lambrecht back yard after the rally as there is room for approximately a dozen or more vehicles. SUNSHINE & SHOWERS REPORT

Doris Chidgey has passed on. She was dealing with bone can-

cer which she battled courageously. She and her husband Jack

were one of the founders of the Model T club and she will be

missed.

Jim Train has lost a kidney due to cancer. As of this report he

is doing okay.

The higher voltage sine wave lasts longer before crossing the minimum threshold voltage required by the coils to fire a spark plug. This will significantly reduce the no response dead zone when shifting from low to high gear. The driver will be able to more quickly advance the spark lever resulting in faster acceleration. If less voltage is desired, Lang’s Old Car Parts sells voltage regulators and cut-outs. If less magnet charge is desired, reverse polarity charge. Takes 1 second. With a variable wire wound resistor in series with the battery charger ground output cable, recharge. Takes 1 second.
