8 Ways Jesus Claimed To Be God: 1. JESUS SAID THAT HE CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN

2. JESUS SAID HE WAS “THE SON OF MAN”

“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven.”

3. JESUS PERFORMED MIRACLES

even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.’

Going Deeper/Life Groups

• Discuss with your group some of the opinions you’ve held about Jesus in your life. Who do you say He is now? How did you come to that conclusion?

• Why do you think Jesus remains such a controversial figure today?

• Discuss the significance of these claims by Jesus. “For I have come down from heaven..” (John 6:38) I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” (John 14:6)

• The Apostle John refers to Jesus’s miracles as signs. Identify some of these signs and the significance of each of them as they relate to Jesus divinity.

• Apart from the 8 reasons discussed above give some other claims that Jesus made that confirm his divinity.

• In answer to the question “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven. (Matthew 16:16-17) Discuss the role of the Holy Spirit in the revelation of Jesus’s divinity

• Pray for friends and family who still need a revelation of Jesus as the only God.
