Williams-Smith Vows Spoken

Miss Ethel Vera Williams became, the bride of William A. Smith, of Mountville and Charlotte, N C., on Friday afternoon, December 31, at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. | J. S. Osborne, with the Rev. C Ware Madden, Jr., pastor of the Baptist church, in Mountville, of-, ficiating.

The vow*s were spoken before an altar of bridal green and white. Ca­thedral candles in branched cand- j elabra lighted the altar.

The bride wore for her wedding a blue crepe dress with black acces-, series.

Mrs. Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Osborne of this city, j

Mr. Smith is the son of Mr. and j Mrs. Carl Smith, of Mountville. and; is engaged in (construction work in ; Charlotte, N. C.

Immediately following the cere-1 mony the couple left for a wedding trip. For travel the bride changed to a blue wool suit with black acces­sories.

Joint Hostesses Give Seated Tea

In compliment to Mrs. Ed Sadler a bride of recent date, and Miss Glo­ria Owens, whose engagement to Robert E. Wysor III has been an­nounced, Mrs. George R. Blalock and Mrs. Carroll White Copeland en­tertained with a seated tea Tuesday afternoon. The honorees were pre­sented corsages of carhellies.

Flowering quince and roses ad­orned the Blalock home for the oc­casion. In the dining room an eU fective arrangement of white bells and confetti on the prettily appoint­ed tea table was suggestive of the hew year.

Mrs. R. E. Sadler poured tea which^ was served with assorted sandwiches, cheese biscuit cake, nuts and mints. ,
