Training Options

Option 1: Use the tutorial (Slides 8-20) to introduce them to how to create the hotlist and the hunt. Then train them live while in Filamentality.

Option 2: Going live into Filamentality, use the activity sheet to guide them through the development process.

What is Filamentality?

Filamentality is a template-driven tool that guides you through the process of picking a topic, searching the Internet, gathering good Internet links, and turning them

1. Go to http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/fil

2. Click, Start a New Topic.

3. Fill in the necessary fields.

4. Scroll to the bottom and click, Spin this Thing!

5. Make any necessary changes.

6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click, Add Links.

7. Fill in the following information for each link (URL or Web page) that you would like to include in your online activity.

*Note: You can only add 3 links at a time. After completing the information for your first 3 links, scroll to the bottom and click, “Add Links” again. This will save your links and allow you to continue adding links.

8. When you are finished adding links, click, Edit Links.

9. Review your information and then click,Hotlist.

10. Add a title and introduction.

11. Create categories to organize your links. You can have up to 5 categories.

13. Add colors to the website. (optional)

14. Scroll to the bottom and click, “Hotlist.” A URL will appear on the top of the page. Your hotlist is now a published Web page!

15. Bookmark this URL to view your hotlist.

16. If you’d like to edit your hotlist at a later date, go to http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/fil/ and click Return to an Existing Topic. Enter your name and password.

Step 1: Creating an Internet Hunt

Step 1: Add a question or questionsto each link. Think of Bloom’s taxonomy when constructing your questions

Step 2: Add a title to your hunt. Be very specific. Think of a title that will catch the student’s attention.

Step 4: Add a big question to your hunt. Think of how your previous questions can help answer the big question. The big question should be on the high end of Bloom’s taxonomy.
