Environment• Everything that surrounds a living thing.

• Did you know that the word environment comes from a French word meaning “to circle; to surround.”

Ecosystem• All the living

and nonliving things that interact with each other in a given area.

Community

• All the populations that live together in the same place.

Population

• All the living things of the same kind that live in the same place at the same time.

Land ecosystem that has many grasses and few trees.

• An ecosystem that gets less than 25cm of rainfall a year.

• Land ecosystem that is cold and dry.

• Low land ecosystem that is covered by water at least part of the time during the year; marshes and swamps are wetlands.
