What you will learn in this guide: In this guide you will learn not only about the 7 main chakras but the higher chakras and the meanings of the 8, 9th, 10, 11th 12th and 13th chakras. You will also learn about animal chakras, how to balance chakras, understand the colour meanings of chakras and finally a selection of chakra charts that you can print off. Understanding Chakras

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that translates as wheel or disc or turning. It is pronounced sharrkra. Chakra is a concept referring to wheel-like vortices, which, according to traditional Indian medicine, are believed to exist in the surface of the etheric double of man. The Chakras are said to be "force centres" or whirls of energy permeating, from a point on the physical body, the layers of the subtle bodies in an ever-increasing fan-shaped formation (the fans make the shape of a love heart). Rotating vortices of subtle matter, they are considered the focal points for the reception and transmission of energies. Seven major chakras or energy centres (also understood as wheels of light) are generally believed to exist, located within the subtle body. Practitioners of Hinduism and New Age Spirituality believe the chakras interact with the body's ductless endocrine glands and lymphatic system by feeding in good bio-energies and disposing of unwanted bio-energies.

It is typical for chakras to be depicted in either of two ways: Flower like Wheel like

In the former, a specific number of petals are shown around the

perimeter of a circle. In the latter, a certain number of spokes divide

the circle into segments that make the chakra resemble a wheel or

chakra. Each chakra possesses a specific number of segments or

petals.

CHAKRA STONES

Chakra stones are used as healing therapy and may be affected by our mental, emotional, and psychic tendencies. Chakras can be blocked by negative energies and will need cleansing as well. Here are the seven most common Chakra stones and how they are used in healing therapy:

1. Crown Chakra: Amethyst, clear quartz. Very high vibrational crystals. 2. Third Eye Chakra: Sodalite. 3. Throat Chakra: Turquoise, blue lace agate, lapis 4. Heart Chakra: Malachite, jade, rose quartz 5. Solar Plexus Chakra: Citrine, yellow agate 6. Sacral Chakra: Carnelian 7. Base Chakra: Ruby, garnet, bloodstone

Chakra stones are used to help heal specific areas of the body. In fact, some people believe that each of the chakras represents a specific gland or system in the body.

Chakra stones and healing therapy go hand in hand to help you begin to heal your body, or another's body's. While medical science is often exact to a point, chakra stones and their healing therapy powers will be something more felt than seen. The results, instead of the process will be what people will be able to see.

Crystal/Stone Layout

Choose your crystals and arrange them in sequence beside where you will be lying.

Lie down and relax. To gently balance and realign your chakra energies, place one

stone of the appropriate colour on each chakra area for a few minutes.

Crown Chakra

Place a violet crystal or clear quartz crystal just above the top of the head. This will

integrate and balance all aspects of the self - physical, mental, emotional and

spiritual, and will promote positive thought patterns, inspiration and imagination.

Brow Chakra

Place an indigo or dark blue crystal in the centre of the forehead

to promote intuitive skills and memory and to increase understanding and self-

knowledge.

Throat Chakra

Place a light blue crystal at the base of the throat to bring peacefulness, ease

communication difficulties and to promote self-expression.

Heart Chakra

Place a green crystal in the centre of the chest to promote a sense of calm, create a

sense of direction in life and to balance your relationship with others and the world. A

pink stone can be added for emotional clearing.

Solar Plexus Chakra

Place a yellow crystal between the navel and the ribcage to reduce anxiety, clear

your thoughts and improve confidence.

Sacral Chakra

Place an orange coloured crystal on the lower abdomen. This will balance creativity

and release stress and blocks in your life that prevent enjoyment.

Base Chakra

Place a red or black crystal near the base of the spine between your legs, or

alternatively place two red stones, of the same sort, on the top of each leg. This will

balance physical energy, motivation and practicality and promote a sense of reality.

The colours schemes of the animal chakra system are similarly situated like ours and

have practically and substantially the same functions as human chakras. What

differs is that most forms of animals are quadrupeds and the alignment of chakras is

positioned horizontally.

In animals, the energy field is usually wider. This condition is due to its natural

survival instinct and they tend to absorb much more sensory information than

humans. They receive and distribute energy through the chakras individually, which

makes them sensitive to subtle vibrations and atmospheric changes.

8

www.lunacourses.com (Professional Therapy Course Providers)

Some animals, for instance, become agitated before a thunderstorm or an

earthquake; they are able to experience different kind of vibrations that humans are

incapable of perceiving. Please Note: The information contained below is not meant as a substitute for seeking professional help if you have an animal who is sick, injured or you think may be unwell. Always seek help and advice from a qualified veterinary surgeon in the first instance.

Animals, in common with all other living beings, have a chakra system. This system is a complex network of spinning, energy vortices (often called ‘petals’ in Eastern traditions) which run throughout the entire body. Universal energy (Prana, Chi, Ki) flows in and out of the chakras, along the meridian system, into the aura and then finally into the physical body. The energy flows two ways; inward and out. Therefore, every thought, act and emotion affects the chakras and is mirrored in the aura. Likewise, external stimuli, both positive and negative, have an effect on the chakras and leave their mark in the aura (including physical injuries). This is the same for animals and humans alike. For those unfamiliar with the chakra system, if you imagine the subtle energy body (made up of chakras, linked to meridians and contained in the aura) as being like a car engine, and the physical body is the actual vehicle which the engine drives, it is not difficult to see that when the car starts to perform less effectively or even breaks down, that it’s the engine which needs repairing or re-tuning and not the car bodywork. It’s the same with the subtle energy body. When we re-charge/realign the chakras - get them spinning in harmony and at the correct rate – you get the physical body running smoothly once again.

Animal Chakras

Animals have 8 Major chakras, 21 Minor chakras and 6 Bud chakras. Alongside the seven Major chakras that animals share with humans (Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral and Root), there is another Major chakra which is unique to animals. It is called the Brachial or Key chakra. This chakra was discovered by the world’s foremost, internationally renowned, animal healer, Margrit Coates.

Animals have:

• 8 Major Chakras • 21 Minor Chakras

9

www.lunacourses.com (Professional Therapy Course Providers)

• 6 Bud Chakras

The Brachial chakra is located on either side of the body, in the area of the shoulders. It is the main energy centre in all animals and links directly to all other chakras. It is the centre which relates to animal-human interaction and any healing should always begin at this chakra. Animals which have a strong, healthy link with their human companions usually have a vibrant Brachial chakra, as it is the centre where the animal-human bond is formed and carried. The Bud chakras are found one on each foot (pad, paw, hoof, etc) and one on the skin at the base opening of each ear (see right). They are especially receptive to subtle energy vibrations; for example changes in the weather like a thunderstorm, or even impending, major earth events like an earthquake or hurricane. The Bud chakras located in the feet are often used to source areas of energy in the ground which are beneficial to the animal. When they find these areas they may paw the ground before either laying or rolling on the spot (not to be confused with a dog finding something ‘smelly’ to roll in!). Standing on such an area can also help ground an animal. The 21 Minor chakras in animals are sensory centres and can be found, in among other places, on the nose, tail and ears. Whilst the Bud and Minor chakras are smaller energy centres than the Major ones, they are every bit as important and assist in the function of the Major chakras.

the placement is the same for all animals (allowing for scale and body shape). See bottom of page for dog illustration

Unsurprisingly, most animals’ senses or instincts are far more finely tuned and sensitive than humans’ (although some animals are more developed than others, like dolphins). As a result, animal chakras are usually far brighter and larger in comparison to ours. Their strong sixth sense emanates from the primary sensory centre; one of the 21 Minor chakras. This is located at the bridge of the nose, below the Third Eye or Brow chakra. Animals are constantly absorbing and computing sensory information; far more so than humans owing to their reliance on instinct for survival. Aside from using the Bud chakras in their feet as mentioned above, they may also be seen rubbing a part of their body against a tree, rolling on the ground or even rubbing up against their fellow animal or human companions to stimulate a chakra. An animal who has suffered from physical, mental or emotional trauma,

however, may not always be able to repair the resulting energetic imbalance and this is where we find signs of disease (dis-ease) present. Each chakra corresponds to an aspect of the self; thought, emotion, senses, instinct and so on. Whilst governing the same physical areas, animal chakras have, however, developed or evolved slightly differently from humans’. This can be further defined with differences between domestic and wild animals. For example, you tend to find a more developed Heart chakra in wild animals (strong herd hierarchy) plus a more pronounced Root Chakra (stronger sense of survival). With a wild horse you will see a stronger flight response (Solar Plexus chakra) than in a Thoroughbred,

which is a man-made breed. Then we have neutering or castration of domestic animals; which strongly affects the Sacral (or Spleen) chakra.

We have mainly spoke about the 7 major chakras however its now becoming more and more apparent that as we evolve so do our 8th, 9th, 10th 11th 12th and 13th chakras. Lets take a look at the meaning of these higher vibrational chakras.

Eighth Chakra

The first of the spiritual chakra, numbered eight, sits above the 7th chakra about two feet. This is known as the energy centre of divine love, of spiritual compassion and spiritual selflessness. This chakra also holds your karmic residue -- those energy patterns that you have held on to for more than one lifetime. When the eighth centre begins to open up and expand, a new spiritual awareness begins to take shape. The eighth chakra does have a colour associated to it and it is what you consider to be ultraviolet light. Unfortunately you are unable to see what ultraviolet light looks like (at least not with your conventional vision). Please note that it is not a good idea for a person with a closed 8th chakra to try to open up that centre in another individual. If it could be done, there could be adverse effects. Suffice it to say that anyone that has healing abilities, out of body capability, clairvoyance, or even in- depth dream recall, most likely has a functioning 8th chakra and will be able to do work on this chakra. It is possible.

Ninth Chakra

The ninth chakra sits approximately four feet above the head. This chakra emits a radiant energy that looks like a spinning rainbow. Depending on what skills a person is presently pulling out of this skill-storehouse, for use in the outer world, will determine the predominate colour emanating from this chakra; so assigning a particular colour to this chakra tends to be meaningless. This chakra holds the karmic blueprint of the individual. It stores the skills and abilities learned in all lifetimes. This chakra also holds the key to the soul's destiny. The ninth chakra is the knowledge-base for the soul. It houses all the information and life-experiences that are part of that individual. The individual accesses this chakra when he or she brings forth a past skill that is presently needed. These previous skills become very important as the individual begins to awaken spiritually and the higher-chakra open. Many of the past lessons and skills must be merged in a kind of synthesis that cements together all of the lessons (human and spiritual) that the soul has endured. The soul then learns the true meaning of what was being accomplished from the entire human experience and, then, finally, spiritual wisdom sets in.

Tenth Chakra

The tenth chakra is located eight to ten feet on top of the crown chakra. When the tenth chakra starts to open up the individual will begin to manifest many of the skills they have learned in all of their previous lives. These individuals will seem to excel at anything they undertake and any project they are involved with will take off from their influence. It is not that they are just good at doing everything. Rather they are tapping into previous skills learned in past lives. The barriers between the past

16

www.lunacourses.com (Professional Therapy Course Providers)

selves are breaking down and knowledge and wisdom begins to flow through time and space. The tenth chakra can be seen like a tornado of light filling the individual with perfect divine energy. A fully functional tenth chakra will have a rainbow like effect coming from its swirling mass of energy. If any blockages are present these disturbances of blocked energy will cause the rainbow effect to be broken up. Then individual is not fully bathed in the integration energies of the tenth chakra.

Eleventh Chakra

The Eleventh chakra contains the energetic connections necessary so the individual can manifest advanced spiritual skills, like, travel beyond the limits of time and space, teleportation, bi-location, telekinesis and instantaneous precipitation of thoughts into matter. Keep in mind that while this chakra possesses these skills the individual will not actually start to manifest or master these skills until the twelfth chakra starts to open.

Twelfth Chakra

The 12th Chakra, is a wonderful sight to see with the third eye! It vibrates like a swirling color-filled sun that can only be truly appreciated in out of body states or with the mind's inner eyes. The 12th chakra is the doorway to the cosmos and beyond. For this reason many of the skills released here are meant to be used off the earth and beyond.

Thirteenth Chakra

The energy of the 13th chakra is that of Unconditional Love. Unlike the seven major centres of the body, this one cannot become blocked. What can become blocked however is our awareness of it. This centre is like a beacon of love and light that is eternally shining on us, delivering to us bliss and wellbeing at every moment of our existence. It is our interconnectedness to source.

The truth contained in the awareness of this energy centre is what everyone is looking for: it is simply, happiness. Buddha's famous last words were (allegedly), "There is no Way to Peace and Happiness - Peace and Happiness is the Way." These are profound words, and yet they are not the words we are taught to live by. Somehow we have swallowed the belief that happiness lies outside ourselves, that it is something to be pursued, purchased, found in a mall, a restaurant, a relationship, or a pill. The truth is, that while this is a world of suffering, it is merely an illusion and love is behind all of it.

CHAKRA READINGS & BALANCING Using the 7 main chakras that are connected to our being on several different levels, Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual. On the physical level the chakras govern a specific main organ or gland. Each chakra also has its own colour which is connected to the same vibrational frequency. For example the heart chakra which is the colour green governs the thymus gland which is involved with the heart, lungs, lymph glands, bronchia system, immune system, as well as the hands and arms. To help balance our chakras either on an emotional, spiritual or physical level we need to uses the correct colour vibration, which resonates at the same frequency. When any of our chakras get blocked or are out of balance this is then felt on both on an emotional and physical level. Understanding the colours

18

www.lunacourses.com (Professional Therapy Course Providers)

Our main source of heat and energy is sunlight. Sunlight consists of energies in the form of electromagnetic waves and part of these rays include cosmic rays, gamma rays, x-rays, visible light rays, infrared rays, micro waves and short and long waves. We do of course use these energies in our day to day lives. We do not seem however to put much emphasis on the visible light rays. The reason why they are referred to as visible light rays is due to the fact that we can see them. You can break down the spectrum of light rays into seven different beams of colour by holding a prism toward the sun. Light consists of the seven colour energies, which are RED, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO and VIOLET.

19

www.lunacourses.com (Professional Therapy Course Providers)

Each of these colours has a different wavelength and vibrational frequency, which is why a trained colour therapist will use these energies when healing with colour. Red for instance has the longest wavelength and the slowest vibrational frequency which is why we recognize instinctively this as warm and stimulating colour. Violet has the shortest wavelength and the fastest frequency and this is recognised as a cool and calming energy. Many of our body functions can be either stimulated or retarded by light and the various colours which in turn affect our chakra system. Science has proved that certain colours will stimulate or calm mental activity. We need light energy to nourish our brains, also to help balance our emotions and our physical body. Light enters through our skin and breath. We receive colour energy through a balance of various coloured foods, herbs, vitamins, minerals, décor, aromatherapy, clothing etc. We are now starting to become more aware about the human psyche and its intricate systems. Medical science has now proved that toxins and other impurities can influence our body. For example Negative thoughts and chemical enhancements in our food and feeling stressed can all affect us both physically and mentally. Pollution can cause chakra imbalances to manifest and again this can lead to an affect on a physical level. This is why alternative healers are now more and more in demand. We all have the ability to heal ourselves, and learning how to balance and cleanse your chakra system on a daily or weekly basis can and will improve your state of health and mind. Benefits of a balanced chakra system The benefits of learning and understanding about your own chakra system will enable you to gain balance in both mind, body and spirit and bring all into harmony. When all of your 7 chakra centres are communicating equally and working in alliance with each other you will have more physical energy, not suffer stress and will feel strong and alert. Learning the practice of Colour Therapy, Aromatherapy, Crystal healing and also using controlled breathing exercises and rhythmic exercise routines, Reiki healing and directed meditation with the use of audio even crystals and gemstones are but some of the ways we learn to influence the process of interaction of our body’s energy points.

CHAKRA TREATMENT We shall now delve deeper into each individual chakra and how it effects our physical and spiritual development. Each chakra relates to its own colour and vibration as discussed earlier. By understanding each individual chakra you will soon learn how to spot if either or any of your chakras are not in balance and what adverse effects they may cause. 1ST CHAKRA

ROOT CHAKRA - Location is base of spine – colour red This chakra is associated with grounding and allows us to connect to the earths energies. When the root chakra is blocked it can make you feel fearful, anxious, insecure and frustrated. Weight problems like obesity, anorexia nervosa, and knee troubles can occur. Root body parts include the hips, legs, lower back and sexual organs. Restlessness and lack of energy can also be associated with this chakra being blocked. Stones – ruby, coral, rose quartz, red jasper, garnet Red offers a healing vibration for emaciation, depression or lethargy. Activities – Exercise such as walking, martial arts, yoga and other physical activities will help open this root chakra. Physical influences: Base of the spine- Legs- Bones- Feet- Rectum- Immune system- Adrenal Glands- Spine- Bone marrow - Colon- Coccyx (Tail Bone)- Kidneys Unbalanced symptoms: Chronic lower back pain- Sciatica- Varicose veins- Rectal tumours and cancers- Depression- Immune disorders- Violence- Anger- Constipation- Survival fears

2ND CHAKRA

Sacral Chakra- Location Abdomen – colour orange This chakra is associated with the sexual organs and is the chakra of creativity, pure attention and pure knowledge. It connects us to the inner source of inspiration, and enables us to experience the beauty around us. The pure knowledge given by this chakra is not mental, but it is direct perception of the Reality, that can be felt in our palms and indicates our subtle blockages. Also this is the centre attention and power of concentration. On the physical level it looks after our liver, kidneys, and the lower abdomen. When we think too much, this centre gets drained of energy and diseases like diabetes or blood cancer can occur when this chakra goes completely out of balance. You can also suffer from guilt and restlessness. Stones - carnelian, orange quartz, tiger’s eye Activities – anything that gets the hips moving, yoga and belly dancing, gardening and it is also said listening to classical music will help open this chakra. Physical influences: Spleen- Sexual organs- Large Intestine- Small Intestines- Lower vertebrae- Pelvis- Stomach- Sacrum (Vertebra)- Appendix- Bladder- Hip area- Sciatica- Reproduction Organs Unbalanced symptoms: Chronic Lower Back Pain- Sciatica Problems- Gynaecological Problems- Obstetrical Problems- Pelvic Pain- Sexual Problems (Men or Women)- Urinary Tract Problems- Jealousy- Possessiveness- Bladder Problems

5TH CHAKRA

Throat Chakra – Location base of throat – colour blue This chakra is associated with the colour sky blue. To keep this chakra in balance and healthy will depend in relation to how honestly you express yourself. Lying violates the body and spirit. We speak our choices with our voices (throats). All choices we make in our lives have consequences on an energetic level. Blockages in this chakra can include sore throats, mouth ulcers, and loss of voice or laryngitis. I am sure you have at sometime experienced that "lump in your throat" when you have been at crossroad of not knowing how to speak the right words in any given situation. A challenge of the throat chakra is to express ourselves in the most truthful manner. Activities – Singing, chanting, humming mantras, acting, and toning are all activities that vibrate from the Throat Chakra. Holding tension in the Throat Chakra is often due to lack of support in the early years regarding self-expression and freedom of speech. With a healed and healthy Throat Chakra, one’s words are kind, thoughtful, clear, and truthful. The voice is strong and alive with many tones of expression. Usually there is ease with writing, speaking, and sharing thoughts with others. Physical influences: Thyroid- Lungs- Respiratory System- Vocal Chords- Throat- Trachea- Cervical Spine (7 Neck Vertebrae)- Mouth- Teeth & Gums- Oesophagus- Parathyroid- Hypothalamus- Tonsils Unbalanced symptoms: Difficulty Communicating- Ego Out of Control- Emotional Roller Coaster- Raspy throat- Chronic sore throat- Mouth ulcers- Gum difficulties- - Laryngitis- Swollen glands- Thyroid problems- Throat Cancer - Tonsil Problems- Whiplash

6TH CHAKRA

Third Eye Chakra – Location - middle of the head behind the eyebrows – colour – indigo This chakra is associated with "knowing", an intuitive type of knowing. When this chakra is dominant, one may have clairvoyant abilities...being able to see things that others can't. When the energy in the 6th chakra is excessive, it can cause headaches, hallucinations, nightmares and difficulty in concentrating. But when the energy is deficient, there may be eye problems, poor memory and inability to visualize. When this chakra is unbalanced it can cause you to be indecisive, jump to conclusions and indecision. Stones - sapphire, amethyst, lapis lazuli, Activity – Participate in drumming of listening to tribal shamanic music. Exercise with dance and movement which helps to distribute top-heavy energy to the rest of your body. Decorate your home with brilliant oranges and sunny yellows to introduce some fire energy. Yoga poses for the 6th chakra are supported forward bends and also eye exercises. Doing positive visualizations can also strengthen this chakra. Physical influences: Left Brain Hemisphere- Left Side of Face & Head- Forehead- Ears- Left Eye- Nose- Pineal Gland- Pituitary Gland- Bones of the Skull- Nervous System Unbalanced symptoms: Headaches- Poor Eyesight- Lack of Concentration- Extensive Forgetfulness- Brain Haemorrhages or Tumours- Strokes- Neurological Disorders- Blindness or Deafness- Full Spinal Problems- Learning Disabilities- Seizures

26

7th CHAKRA

Crown Chakra – Location – Top of head in the centre – colour- violet/white This chakra is associated with the colour violet, but it is usually referred to as the colour white, as it has a combination of all colours. This is in line with the chakra also being a culmination of all the other chakras. If this chakra is unbalanced you could be very sceptical and have difficulty and be very materialistic. You may over analyse things and be overly intellectual. When someone’s crown chakra is blocked, a very unpleasant muddy, dark curry colour taints their crown chakra and their entire aura. When communicating with them, we may experience a tingling and prickling sensation in our crown, and we may feel a warning that psychic protection is needed. When two people communicate whose crown chakras are unclear, many misconceptions and misunderstandings are common. How to check if chakras are blocked

Request the person having their chakras checked to lay down on their back on a surface that is tall enough for you to have a comfortable position and not be leaning into them. You do not want to create a push, where you are pushing your own energy onto theirs. Start by holding the cord of the pendulum between your thumb and forefinger about 4-6 inches (or 10-15 cm) above each chakra. When the pendulum moves, notice its direction and movement. This movement is what you will analyze in order to check the chakras: If the pendulum moves clockwise, then that chakra is open and well-balanced and full.

If the pendulum moves counter-clockwise, then there may be a blocked energy or negative experiences with the feelings relating to that chakra.

If the pendulum moves in an elliptical swing, there may be a right- or left-side imbalance of energy flowing in the body. This may be due to overusing the right masculine side or the left nurturing side.

If the pendulum moves in an erratic swing, it is possible that your friend may have recently changed their beliefs or are going through a spiritual upheaval, which can affect the chakra’s movement and cause it to move erratically for a couple of days. If the pendulum does not move at all, you may be holding the pendulum in the incorrect location. If that is not the case, then there may be a blockage in that chakra.
