“WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE…”

Water is all around us - covering over 70% of the Earth’s surface – but it still needs to be valued and used wisely.

Every living thing on the planet needs water.

In addition, many everyday objects require water to make them – sometimes surprising amounts! (For instance, did you know that it takes over 1,300

gallons of water to produce 500 new sheets of paper?)

In this presentation, you will learn that nearly everything on the planet depends on water – from plants and animals, to the weather, to the shirt you

are wearing…even the paper in your poster!

Let’s talk water…..

Once you know all about water - one of Earth’s most amazing and important shared resources – you will have an important job: Pass it on! Share the knowledge!! Here’s how it works: With your poster, each of you has an opportunity to share an amazing water fact with your classmates, your family, your community, and the world!

Example poster ideas:

What is the most amazing or surprising thing you learned about water? How do people use water?

o A) Choose a surprising, hidden water use that most people might not know.

o B) Illustrate some of the ways that people use water. Why is it important to be water smart? How can you be water smart?

o A) Choose one tip & illustrateo B) Choose a list & make a poster– i.e. Water smart @ home tips

pond, and marsh on the planet!

Almost all of the water used by people around the world

comes from this circled section. (Surface water + Groundwater)

…And we need to share that water with all of the other living things on the planet. 13
