A Giving Plan

Introduction:

• You need to intentionally give away your money.

Mt 22:21, Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and (give) to God what it God.

• Lk 12:32, (Jesus said to the disciples), Do not be afraid, little flock … Sell you possessions and give to the poor.

2 Cor 9:7, Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

• The Bible tells us to have a giving plan and to give cheerfully.

1. God wants you to give (invest in) to the poor.

1 Tim 6:17, Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

1 Tim 6:18, Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

• Jesus wants you to give to the poor.

Prov 28:27, He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.

• Prov 19:17, He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward him for what he has done.

• Who are the poor?

• One group of poor lives in Thailand.

1 Tim 6:19, In this way they (the rich) will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age.

Lk 16:9, I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

2. God wants you to give worship and glory to Him.

Rev 14:7, Fear God and give Him glory … Worship Him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the spring of water.

3. God wants you to give to your family & friends.

1 Tim 5:3-4, 8, Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God …

8 If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Gal 6:10, Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

4. God wants you to invest in your own growth.

• Prov 23:23, Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.

• If you don’t plan to give, you will never give.

• Give some to the poor;

• Give some to the church;

• Give some to your family & friends;

• Give some to you for personal growth;

• Give some to your disciple for his/her spiritual growth.

Lk 22:17-20, After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, "Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”

• Do you miss the Lord? Do you long for his presence?

2 Cor 5:6b, Paul said, “as long as we are at home in the body we are away (absent) from the Lord.”

Lk 18:7-8, Jesus said, “And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?
