  • Face Masks & Safety

What is important when buying masks? We often see people in Asian countries wearing masks in media but this is not usually to block viruses, theywant to block pollution. The good news is the same masks are also very effective at blocking viruses andfiltering the air that you breathe. When selecting a mask you want to look for the following:The N rating: You want to find a mask rated N95 or higher which this means that the mask filters up to 95% ofparticulate matter including dust, smoke or viruses as small as 0.3 microns in size. Disposable Filter Elements:Replacing and disposing of the mask entirely or the filter itself is important. After the mask does it's job, itcontains the germs or particulate it filtered so keeping it on your person is not recommended since it defeatsthe purpose. High Priced Masks: Regardless of the price, all masks will need to be replaced or filters replaced if they are the cartridge type. Most masks however are priced cheap enough and designed to be thrown away. Fitment:If there are gaps between your face and the mask, unfiltered air will get through. Masks work in a very simplemanner, they have filters (often some sort of carbon or synthetic material) made of a very fine grade materialthat physically stops particles getting through the mask. Most regular decorating or painting masks are morethan capable of blocking the many small particulate depending on the need. Many masks are not specialmedical-grade products and they may do the job; don’t spend more than you have to to protect yourself.Understand what you need and what you are buying to avoid overpaying. Germs and Virus Transmissions: Skin is a great protector of germs and viruses getting in to your system. Eyes, Nose, Ears are vulnerable placeswhere germs and viruses can enter your body. For this reason, we also recommend FULL FACE masks alongwith earplugs in the form of cotton balls with tea tree oil-infused (just 2 drops recommended, wear gloveschanging them often and leave your shoes outside your home when possible. Good Cleaning Habits:Along with protection, wash your hands often, do not touch your face. If you work all day where you interactwith co-workers, change your clothes when you get home and place in a separate plastic bag to avoid anypossible cross-contamination. Shower and put on a fresh set of clothes. Disinfect your shoes overnight toreuse again as needed.
