The Laundry Interface Manual provides suggested installation methods for Knight dispensers to various laundry machine supply signals. The laundry supply signal is used to trigger the chemical dispenser pump to inject the appropriate chemicals. The On Premise, Multi Flow, and Knight Trak dispensers are illustrated in the wir-ing diagrams. These dispensers are similar in wiring in supply signals. The MPL series will be mentioned in the Appendix.

Relay mode: This mode is used with programmable laundry machines that will control the supply signal length (time). The pumps will run as long as the supply signal is present.

Standard mode: This mode uses the supply signal to trigger the pumps and the dispenser’s microprocessor takes control to count down delay and run times. Refer to units manual for

⇒ On Premise (OP-500 series): ◊ 5 supply 24-240VAC signal inputs ◊ Dual common inputs (Com A, Com B) for split common application ◊ 120, 208, 230VAC transformer for main power connections

Note: If the laundry machine supply signal input has one common always use com-mon A. (Refer to the unit’s installation manual for more information on split common connections). ⇒ Multi Flow (MF series):

◊ 8 supply 24-240VAC signal inputs ◊ Dual common inputs (Com A, Com B) for split common application ◊ 120VAC or 230VAC power connection (Refer to units instruction manual

for more information on power connections) a voltage select jumper is provided on the board. The main incoming power must match the motor voltage of the unit.

Example : If the power supply is 120V the motor voltage must be 120V. The volt-age of the unit is indicated on the outside of the unit. Note: If the laundry machine uses one common use common A (refer to units instruction manual for split common applications).

The Knight Trak Data Management Systems gives users control of every day-to-day washroom operation. Provides easy to understand printed reports for data tracking capability. On-Site programming and the ability to export information to personal computers. There are two versions of Knight Trak; Knight Trak I and II.

Knight Trak I: This system allows for chemical injection and data tracking for washer extractor and tunnel washers. This system is available in one of four ver-sions: Washer Extractor, Washer Extractor Relay,Tunnel Relay, and Tunnel Trak. • Washer Extractor: The system is installed to a washer extractor laundry ma-

chine. Allows the programming of the pump run and delay times. • Washer Extractor Relay: Same as washer extractor except the laundry ma-

chine will control the pump run and delay times. • Tunnel Relay: The system is installed to a tunnel machine that will control the

pump run and delay times. • Tunnel Trak: The system is installed to a tunnel machine with dispenser con-

trolled pump injection. Knight Trak II: This system allows for chemical injection and data tracking for washer extractor laundry machines. Main control, programming, and report pa-rameters are set with the Laundry Formula Programmer (LFP). The LFP permits programming for each dispenser and allows the operator to select the formulas or obtain load count information.

⇒ Knight Trak I & II : ◊ Signal interface module (SIB) which receives supply signals from the

laundry machine and sends them as low-voltage data transmission to the Knight Trak dispenser.

◊ 24-240VAC signal inputs ◊ Dual common signal inputs (common A common B) ◊ 10 supply signal inputs

Note: If laundry machine has a single common use common A. The Knight Trak version I (KOB) and Knight Trak II (POB) circuit boards inside the dispenser have a voltage select jumper for 120VAC and 220VAC power input, however, the in-coming power must match the motor voltage. The voltage of the unit is indicated outside the dispenser.

Operation: Peristaltic pumps are positive displacement pumps with a minimum of moving parts. The rotation of the elliptical roller block in the head against the squeeze tube causes vacuum on the suction side of the tube and chemicals are easily pumped. Specifications: Several factors contribute to the pumping distances of peristaltic pumps. Chemical viscosity, tubing size, vertical pumping and pressurized mani-folds or lines can lower the distances. All pumping distances are based on the vis-cosity of water. The approximate maximum distance a peristaltic pump can pull or draw chemical is 10 feet. The maximum distance the pump can push or pump the chemical is 200 feet (horizontally). Note: It is recommended not to pump vertically more than 12 feet. The maximum pressure the pump can pump against is 30 PSI.

35(,167$//$7,21 ♦ Check to make sure that all functions of the laundry machine are operating

properly. ♦ Check the proposed location for a 115 or 230VAC power source. ♦ Measure the voltage of the supply signal and signal common not supply signal

and case ground. ♦ Measure the distance from chemical supply container to chemical dispenser

and from the dispenser to the injection point inside the wash machine. Tools Required ⇒ Volt Meter ⇒ Tape measure ⇒ Electric drill (with masonry bit if mounting on block wall) ⇒ Appropriate tools and hardware to mount unit to wall (i.e. screw driver, ham-

mer, level, screws, and wall anchors).

Caution : Before connecting signal wires and main power always ver-ify the voltage with a volt meter and check the schematic of the wash wheel controller in the instruction manual of the machine.

1) Mount the dispenser near the chemical containers no higher than ft. and within 10ft. horizontally.

2) Run all electrical wires through conduit. Check any applicable electrical codes. 3) Inspect wiring diagram of wash machine and card reader 4) Insert one end of the suction tube to left side of squeeze tube on the peristaltic

pump. 5) Cut the suction tube to length and insert the other end into the appropriate supply container using PVC pipe as a support. 6) Insert one end of the discharge tube into the right side of the peristaltic pump. 7) Form an anti-siphon loop (with the loop pointing “down”) with the other end of

the discharge tubing and insert the end into the supply pocket of the machine. 8) Connect main power to the Knight laundry dispensers proper voltage terminals.

The proper voltage is indicated on the voltage label on the side of the dis-penser.

9) Connect each of the supply signals to the Knight laundry dispenser according to the diagrams provided.

10)Refer to the units instruction manual for programming instructions. Make any adjustments to programming which can be due to product viscosity, distance pumped, etc.

NOTE: IN JANUARY, 1985, MILNOR CHANGED THE SUPPLY CONNECTOR PLUG BETWEEN THE SUPPLY SOLENOIDS AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL PANEL INSIDE THE LAUNDRY MACHINE. THE WIRING IS THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL SYSTEM FOUR MACHINE. THE ONLY CHANGE IS IN THE CONNECTOR PLUG ITSELF - IT HAS A SMALL PLASTIC RIB ON ONE CORNER. AN ADAPTER KIT FOR POST-1985 MACHINE IS AVAILABLE FROM KNIGHT EQUIPMENT UNDER PART #7616240. The supply signals can be found on a 6-pin connector plug at the top of the machine. Locate the relay panel (inside the machine, on the back panel) and install a relay in the bot-tom (right) socket. The socket should be labeled CRC1. Program a short delay time for the detergent and bleach signals. This will insure that the de-tergent and bleach are dispensed after the machine fills with water prior to the first wash.

Serial Tunnel CBW

Terminal strip TB2 and TB3 are dry contacts. Each strip consists of 16 contacts. TB2 and TB3

are numbered 1 through 16. If TB2-1 (contact 1) receives 120VAC or 220VAC then TB3-1 would output the voltage applied to TB2-1. The same goes if the power was applied to TB3-1 then TB2-1 would output the voltage applied to TB3-1. Whichever terminal strip you choose to apply the power to the remaining contacts in that terminal strip must be jumped or daisy

chained together up to the number of chemicals or supply’s used. Example: If using 8 chemicals and the power is applied to TB3-1 a jumper wire must be

placed from 1 through number 8 on TB3. Giving all 8 contacts power. When the correspond-ing contact on TB2 is energized it will send the power as a supply signal to the chemical dispenser (if TB2-2 is energized it will complete the circuit with TB3-2 where TB3-2 is the

common and TB2-2 is the power leg). Refer to the wiring diagram on page 41.

PROBLEM

Pumps are not running off of the supply signals

Multiple pumps activating at once

Example: Pump 1 and Pump 3 are running at the same time, Pump 1 should be the only pump activat-

ing in this formula.

Dispenser remote display is blank

CAUSE

1 Low signal voltage or no signal present

2 Program error

3 Bad pump motor

1 Receiving a supply signal

2 The pumps are on the

same supply signal 1 Loose connection on re-

mote cable 2 No AC power source

SOLUTION

◊ Check for proper signal voltage (24-240VAC) across supply sig-nal to common. If the voltage is zero the machine is not sending a signal.

◊ If the signal light is on and volt-

age is correct check the program for proper pump run times.

◊ Check to see if the pumps will

prime. ◊ Check for proper input voltage.at

power input terminals. ◊ If pumps will not prime and volt-

age is correct change pump mo-tor.

◊ If the signal light is on disconnect

the supply signal to see if the pump will stop. If pump stops in-dicates stray signal voltage from the machine.

◊ Check the pump program for

proper run and delay times.

◊ Check wiring of remote cable ◊ Check voltage across the red

and black wires to the remote should read 10-12VDC.

◊ Check main power for proper

voltage.

MPL-1000 Plus series Microprocessor Control Laundry

Introduction

The MPL-1000 series can run up to 6 pump outputs in one of three different modes; Signal, Sequence, and Relay. The MPL 1000 Plus has two formula capability with separately programmable run and delay times for each pump in each formula. All signal inputs have a independent signal and common connections for multi-washer con-nections to one circuit board. The signal inputs can accept an 18-240VAC or DC supply signal. There is a main power jumper for 120VAC or 220VAC operation. Note: The incoming power must match the pump motor voltage. Refer to the units man-ual for programming information.

Modes of Operation Signal mode: Uses the supply signals to trigger the pumps and the dispensers micro-processor takes control to count down delay and run times. Sequence mode: A single continuous signal is used to activate a programmed “sequence” of run and delay times. The unit must be in formula 1 only. Relay: This mode is used with programmable laundry machines that will control the supply signal length (time). The pumps will run as long as the signal is present.

MPL-3000 Microprocessor Laundry

Introduction The MPL-3000 is a two component system. The circuit board inside the dispenser receives the supply signals and routes the signals to the hand held control which is responsible for all pump run and delay times. Has 16 formula capability and separate delay and run times for each pump in each formula. Has 8 pump outputs. The unit can accept a signal between 12VAC to 240VAC. The unit has a voltage select jumper for 110VAC or 220VAC operation. Note: The incoming power must match the pump motor voltage. Refer to the units manual for pro-gram information.
