A MESSAGE FROMOUR PASTOR

Dear Parish Family,On October 2nd and 9th you have the opportunity to contribute your thoughts and concerns regarding the Real Presence Real Future initiative. This is an important step in the process and will present us with some models to consider as we plan for the future. It takes into account the different issues our diocese faces at this time including the fact that we will have less priests to become Pastors and Parochial Vicars. We will need to envisage a Church that is less dependent on the old models of maintenance and more in tune with the dynamic changes that are taking place around us. These are opportunities for faith, hope, and evangelization that St John Paul II challenged us to BE NOT AFRAID and we continue to anchor ourselves to Christ who has promised us that He is with us always. Please go to this link to register for the zoom meeting realpresencerealfuture. org/parish-sessions-register/ (scroll down to “St Brendan Church” and select your preferred date). If you plan to attend at the parish in-person, please register at: tinyurl.com/RealPresenceSessions. WE NEED YOUR help in this so please sign up today!

As we settle into fall, we have been working on improving the way that we share information with you, and giving you more control over your stewardship. This has started with the transfer from Vanco to Pushpay and we are grateful for everyone who has already transferred their EFT. Dina has been working hard to make sure she answers all of the email questions that you might have and has been monitoring each new transaction to make sure that your Vanco account is discontinued and your Pushpay account is up and running. But this is only the beginning of what Churchstaq and Pushpay will be able to do for us. Going forward you will be able to access your own dashboard on the internet and update your information. This will include updating your records for the birth of a child, a change of address, etc. It will also allow you to make one off gifts to special collections as well, as recurring gifts for Offertory or SVDP. You will be able to list the different ministries you are involved with as well. This update was already planned, but with COVID, it has become even more important to us as we place into your hands more resources to communicate with us. The rollout is progressive rather than all at once so that each transfer of data to the new system is monitored and checked. Say tuned for more information and especially the launch of our own dedicated parish APP!

Work on the Heritage Building (Wellnitz offices and hall) continues. We are almost ready to put up dry wall and paint and will be looking for some new volunteers to help with this. Look out for Deacon Jim Morris' email about that, or better still contact him and volunteer to help!

We are putting together a new gardening working group to take care of the beautiful landscape that is taking shape around the campus. I am happy to announce that Sally Fisher has agreed to coordinate this group. We are planning a fall work day where all of us eager gardeners can get to work.

As you can see there is much going on and much to pray for!
