Pediatric Anesthesia Team Serving The Community On Saturday Sept. 15, members of the Duke Pediatric Anesthesia team visited the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and prepared dinner for pediatric patients and their families staying at the house while the children receive inpatient and outpatient care, primarily at Duke Children’s Hospital. Dressed in newly-minted t-shirts, the group prepared a meal (+ leftovers) for over 70 people. Thanks to all who donated, shopped, chopped, cooked, served and cleaned up. ASA Hosts 2012 Run for the Warriors® The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) annual conference will once again host a Run for the Warriors® in Washington D.C. on Sunday, October 14th at 7:00am! This 5K race is coordinated through Hope for the Warriors, a non-profit organization dedicated to the men and women wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. All proceeds from Run For The Warriors® will benefit wounded warriors and their families by giving them hope beyond recovery. Last year, the Duke Anesthesiology Racing Team, comprised of 49 faculty, staff, and alumni runners, raised $13,458 for Hope for the Warriors. This amount made up 15.6% of the total money raised at that year’s race, and allowed us to finish first and lead the way in supporting these individuals that have given so much to protect us! This year, in Washington D.C., our goal is to once again show our support for our nation’s wounded warriors by leaving the other teams in our dust! Let’s have the most participants and raise the most money for this great cause!
