OverviewOverview
If you have missing or corrupted files, you will need to restore them from your backup tape(s). You canrestore the entire contents of a tape, selected backup sets, or specific individual files.
Before restoring files, you must ensure that SAP and the database are shutdown!
Loading the Catalog of Backup SetsLoading the Catalog of Backup Sets From a TapeFrom a Tape
1. In the Program Manager,double-click on the Backup icon in theAdministrative Toolsprogramgroup.
2. Follow the path Windows Tapes.
Double-click on the Tapeswindows title bar to maximize thewindow.

If you do not want to restore anentire tape, you must load thetapes catalog to display a list ofbackup sets:
3. Click on the tape name to select it.
4. To load the tape catalog, eitherdouble-click the Catalog icon,double-click the tapes icon, or
follow the path OperationsCatalog.
After searching the tape, acomplete list of backup sets isdisplayed in the Tapes window.The question marks (?) displayedin the icons indicates that their
individual catalogs have not beenloaded.

If you want to restore an entire backup set or tape, you can proceed to the next section. If you need torestore individual files, you will need to find out which files are in each backup set. The following stepsexplain how to load a catalog of files for a specific backup set.
1. Click on the backup-set name toselect it (for example, C:).
2. To load the catalog, either double-click the Catalog icon, double-clickthe tapes icon, or follow the path
Operations Catalog. After thecatalog is loaded, the questionmark for that set is changed into aplus (+) sign.
3. A complete list of directories and
files in the backup set is displayed.
Corrupt files and their corresponding directories are marked with a red X.

To restore files, you must first select the tapes, backup sets, or files you wish to restore. Choose one of thefollowing three options, or use options 2 and 3 together for a custom restore:
1. To select all the files on a tape: In
the Tapes window, select the check-box for the appropriate tape.
2. To select individual backup sets ona tape: Select the check-boxes foreach backup set you want torestore.
3. To select individual files in abackup set: Select the check-boxesfor each filename you want torestore.
Restoring the Selected ItemsRestoring the Selected Items
1. Click the Restore button in thetoolbar to open the RestoreInformationwindow.
2. In the Restore to Drive field, specifythe drive to which you want theinformation restored.
3. Select the Verify After Restorecheck-box if you wish to verify thecontents of the files restored to diskagainst the files on tape. This willalso generate a log of exceptions.
4. Select the Restore File Permissionscheck-box to have the systemrestore ACL information alongwith the file.
5. Select the Restore Local Registry
check-box to restore the Registryfiles. (You must restart the computer after the backup in order for the registry files to take affect.)
6. Click the OKbutton to start the restore process.
If the file on a disk is newer than the file being restored from the tape, a dialog box will appear askingyou to confirm file replacement.
If the a file or backup set spans two or more tapes, you will be prompted to insert the additionaltape(s).

It is possible that a screen like theone pictured to the right mayappear:
7. If this screen appears, click Yes toall.
8. Check to see that the restore wascompleted successfully and thenclick OK.
9. To exit NT Backup, follow the path
