I OWE, I OWE, SO OFI OWE, I OWE, SO OFI OWE, I OWE, SO OFI OWE, I OWE, SO OFFFFFTO WORK I GOTO WORK I GOTO WORK I GOTO WORK I GO
For a vast portion ofthe workforce, that's thebest reason they canmuster for going to theirjob each day. Accordingto one poll, only 43percent of Americanoffice workers aresatisfied with their jobs.Sadly that leaves themajority of Americansunsatisfied with theirwork.
Thankfully for thosewho are unsatisfied, Paulgives a way to grasp aglimpse of glory amid thegrind. He wanted them to
"adorn the doctrine ofGod," that is, to showthe beauty of their faithin Christ by how theywork (Titus. 2:10).
A significant andoften overlooked waythat we serve God is inour everyday tasks, especially in our jobs.Martin Luther under-stood this when hewrote, "The maid whosweeps her kitchen isdoing the will of Godjust as much as the
monk who prays -- notbecause she may sing aChristian hymn as shesweeps but becauseGod loves clean floors.
The Christian shoe-maker does hisChristian duty not byputting little crosses onthe shoes, but bymaking good shoes, because God isinterested in goodcraftsmanship." (OurDaily Bread, September 5,
1994)
This Labor Day try toconsider putting Godfirst in your jobs andwork for His glory. Youmight find yourself en-
joying your job a littlemore.
Blessings,Rev. April

The Sunday schoolteacher in a littlecountry church wascarefully explaining thestory of Elijah theProphet and the falseprophets of Baal. Sheexplained how Elijahbuilt the altar, put woodupon it, cut the steer inpieces, and laid it upon
the altar. And then,Elijah commanded thepeople of God to fill foubarrels of water andpour it over the altar. He had them do thisfour times Now, saidthe teacher, cananyone in the class tellme why the Lord wouldhave Elijah pour water
over the steer on thealtar?A little girl in the back
