In today’s society, energy efficiency is adriving concern. Energy use of a luminaireover it’s lifetime will result in the greatestenvironmental impact. The Enduralume Vluminaire meets those needs. It isavailable in MH, pulse start or HPS lampsand also with regular or low loss ballasts,in wattages ranging from 175-400W. Inaddition, for greater energy efficiency, theEnduralume V is now available with ourelectronic HID ballast in wattages rangingfrom 320-400W MH.

Process IndustriesThere are applications where the conditions require anenclosed luminaire producing ef fi cient, wide spread lightingdistribution. The Enduralume V luminaire combines a whitepainted highly reflective reflector with a spun on borosilicateglass or acrylic refractor. The reflector/refractor combinationresults in a low brightness appearance providing an efficientblend of hor i zon tal and vertical illumination.
Warehouse LightingThe Enduralume luminaire‘s unique design of combining analuminum reflector with a drop prismatic glass refractorresults in high vertical footcandles. Vertical footcandles areessential in stack lighting where it is necessary to read labelson boxes. Also, by having the luminaire enclosed, it meetsUL requirements of containing a MH lamp in case of non-passive lamp failure. This is often important in warehouseareas where there is the potential for damage if lamps arenot contained properly.
Post OfficesThe Enduralume V luminaire, with its enclosed optics, issuited for moderately dirty en vi ron ments as well as cleanareas. The luminaire will provide long life and easymaintenance as re quired by these ap pli ca tions. Itsappearance and rug ged ness permit it to be equally at homein commercial as well as industrial applications.
Food Processing AreasSimilar to warehouse lighting, an enclosed luminaire isessential for safety in food handling areas. The acrylicrefractor is a good choice for this application and alsoprovides uniform light and is impact resistant.
Besides the application benefits of the Enduralume Vluminaire, it is also a structurally sound unit. A relamp cablesecures the reflector to the ballast housing when relamping.Gaskets are located at the reflector/ballast and the reflector/refractor connections to minimize dirt entering the opticalassembly.

Specifications DistributionsGeneralComplete luminaire shall be Enduralume V catalognumber __________. The luminaire shall consist of twosub-assemblies: ballast assembly containing the electricalcomponents and an optical reflector/refractor.
The complete luminaire shall be listed by Un der writ ersLaboratories, Inc. as suitable for use in damp locationambients of up to 55°C as standard, (40°C for 400Wmetal halide with acrylic re frac tor). Op tion al wet locationlu mi naire shall be listed for 40°C.
The factory installed stainless steel reflector attachmentlatches shall have swingover locking springs, so as toprevent accidental dis lodg ing. A stainless steel cable shallsupport the optics during relamping. No tools shall berequired to unlatch the optics from the housing. Thesupport casting shall contain a fiberglass filter and an EPTgasket which is compressed when the optical assembly islatched in place.
Optical AssemblyThe optical assembly shall encompass a 508mm (20”) di am e ter aluminum re flec tor with a 90% reflectance,white baked polyester powder paint finish com bined witha spun on dropped pris mat ic boro sil i cate glass or acrylicrefractor. The refractor shall be 121mm (4.75”) deep withprecisely formed prisms producing a sym met ri cal lightdistribution.

Electronic BallastThe HID electronic ballast shall be provided withintegral color coded leads. This electronic ballastshall be multi-voltage capable and shall operatefrom a nominal voltage range of 208 – 277 voltsAC. The electronic ballast shall have a systemefficiency of greater than 93% under full lampoperation. It shall be FCC compliant for EMI/RFI asper parts 18.305 and 18.307. Total harmoniccurrent distortion shall be less than 15%. Startinginput current shall be less than stabilized lampoperating current. The ballast system shall be
capable of maintaining stabilized lamp operationthrough one full cycle of power interruption.Electrical system shall withstand transient peaks ofseven strikes of 100kHz ring waves at 2.5kV levelfor both common and differential mode per IEEEC62.41.
The ballast shall be capable of powering one 400,350 or 320 watt pulse start metal halide lamp.Lamp wattage shall not vary more than ± 3.0% fora ±10% change in input line voltage. A crest factorof 1.5 shall not be exceeded. Lamps operating onthe ballast shall be warranted by the lampmanufacturer to deliver improved mean lumens ascompared to same lamp operation on anelectromagnetic ballast. Where applicable, a meansof continuous dimming shall be a part of the ballastsystem.
Dimming control is to be of the common 0–10 voltDC. 0-10VDC dimming control voltage shall bederived from the ballast, not an externally imposedsource. Dimming shall range from 100% down tono less than 50% of input power. Automatic overtemperature protection shall be provided. Theballast shall carry a warranty of three years wheninstalled in applications meeting the manufacturer’sconditions and the requirements of the applicableUL safety listings.
Dimming option shall include a “Hold High” featurethat maintains full power to lamps when starting upafter loss of power. After a 20 minute delay, thelamp will be restored to its previous dimmedsetting. This is to comply with lamp manufacturerrecommendations regarding starting lamps whiledimmed and the effect on lamp life.
Certain airborne contaminants can diminishthe integrity of acrylic. Please refer to theAcrylic Environmental Compatibility Chart (HL-2445) for suitable uses.
