Change Self-Sabotaging Behavior Are you your own worst enemy – your biggest stressor? Do you engage in Behavior that often leads to a stress- producing incident? Listed below are several behaviors or situations that you would do well to consider eliminating from your daily routine:

� Some women carry large purses that contain every thing that they will need from sunrise to sunset. Trying o locate an item in it – particularly in a rush- can be quite stressful. Note how often you actually use each item in your purse each day. If the answer is never, then it may be a good candidate for leaving at home. Try carrying only the basics, such as your wallet, lipstick, and keys.

� Do you shop with your purse open as if to say to a would-be purse snatcher, “Welcome. Come on in “? Further, an open purse allows items to fall out of it. This is frustrating, but whom can I blame for self sabotage?

� How peaceful are your travel preparations? Because I travel a lot, I keep duplicate items of toiletries packed in my suitcase, and therefore have no need to run around looking for them at the last minute. In the past, I have forgotten almost every item at one time or another that I considered “essential.” Now, I have a preprinted packing checklist that sets forth everything I will need. I print out a copy for each trip

� How many times have you lost your car in a parking lot or structure? Wherever I park now, the first thing I note is my parking location. I recite it several times as I leave the car. I once was only minutes away from reporting my car stolen after having looked for it for what seemed like hours. I finally located it on a floor of the parking structure where most of the cars had left. No more of this stressful madness for me.

� If you’ve entered that forgetful period in your life, when you go out, look around you when you get up to be sure you’ve collected all your belongings. Constantly losing your items can cause quite a bit of stress for you and your companions.

� At home, always have a designated place fro the things you need to use often. I keep a bowl or a basket by the door for keys, a vitamin carousel that stays in a set place, a closet organized in a manner such that the things I can wear currently are positioned in the front to avoid my going through the entire closet each time I have to get dressed.

� Do not take the cordless phone from the room where the base is located. It may be worth your sanity to have a phone in each room.

� If you wear reading glasses but can’t keep up with them, buy several pairs and designate each one for a particular location. Be diligent to keep them in their appointed places.

� Do you realistically plan for traffic or things not going as scheduled? Are your assumptions too optimistic as to how long it will take to complete a task or drive to an appointment? The truth of the matter is that I could indeed do things within the bounds of my optimistic time frame if I were the only person on the planet. However, things happen. Rather than bemoaning certain realities, you simply need to anticipate them.

Try to reduce most of your daily activities to a routine. Good planning and forethought are critical to minimizing self-caused stress. They will not reduce you to a life of boredom but rather will give you more time to plan something exciting and fulfilling. *

1. FAMILY LIFE AND HEALTH CARE MINISTRIES To build and enhance family life at all levels, we propose to make the first Sunday in each month special. Sun 4 Sep - One mass - Family Eucharist, at 8:15am commencing 4th Sept.

Followed at 3:30pm with Patronal Festival. Sun 2 Oct - All uniformed organizations, youth and Sunday School to make

Corporate Communion followed by a Health Fair. Family Eucharist 8:15am.

2. NEW HYMN BOOK The CPWI Hymnal is in full use at St. Gregory as of today. Every parishioner is encouraged to own a book ($15 each). This book is the official hymnal of the Province of the West Indies. Books with music are $25. Remember, the Book of

Common Prayer is in full use now. Let us come all fired up and ready for worship as we bring our tools with us.

3. TO CURSILLIASTAS We pray for the success of the proposed Bahamas Anglican Women’s Cursillo #19 - Thu 13 Oct - Sun 16 Oct. What can we do? � Pray for its success. � Cursilliastas identify potential candidates and arrange sponsorship ($150.00

per candidate). (Note: Application forms etc., not to come to Rector, but to Parish or Diocesan Office).

� Palancas for the weekend, general and for candidates. � Volunteers to work with team (submit names). Male volunteers will work in

the background. � Need a commitment from male Cursilliastas to be present on the Saturday

evening. � Commitment from all parishioners for Sun, 16 Oct at 5:30pm. As we try to

10. TRACK PRACTICE It's almost time again for the annual DYD Track & Field Classic. In order to improve our placement in this year's October meet, we hope to begin track practice and registration early. Track practice commences Mon, 18 July and will be each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00-7:30pm. All interested children and adults are asked to come out. Age categories are: Under 5, Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, 17+, 17-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+, and Clergy.
