Be thoughtful, be silent, and be reverent, for this is the House of God. Before the service, speak to the Lord; during the service,

let the Lord speak to you; after the service, speak to one another.

M I N I S T R Y O F T H E W O R D

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of Your Love. Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created and You shall renew the face of the earth. O God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit, we may be truly wise, and ever rejoice in Your consolations, through Christ our Lord, Amen. O Lord, You know; remember me and visit me, and bring down retribution for me on my persecutors. In Your forbearance do not take me away; know that on Your account I suffer insult.

16 Your words were

found, and I ate them, and Your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O Lord, God of hosts. 17

I did not sit in the company of merrymakers, nor did I rejoice; under the weight of Your hand I sat alone, for You had filled me with indignation.

18

Why is my pain unceasing, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Truly, You are to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail.

19 Therefore, thus says the Lord: If you turn back, I will take you back,

and you shall stand before Me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall serve as my mouth. It is they who will turn to you, not you who will turn to them.

20 And I will make you to this people

a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you, for I Am with you to save you and deliver you, says the Lord.

21 I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and redeem you

from the grasp of the ruthless.

Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God.

HYMN - 7:00 AM …………………………………. “We Gather Together”- 389 CPWI PSALM – 9:30 AM …………………………...……………………………. 26:1-8 - BCP p498 SECOND LESSON

Readers: 7:00 am Suzanne Hepburn 9:30 am Dominic Thompson, Youth Department Reader: A Reading from the Word of God written in Romans 12:1-8.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

2 Do not be conformed to this

world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God — what is good and acceptable and perfect.

3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to

think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

4 For as in one body we have many members, and not all the

members have the same function, 5

so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.

6 We have

gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith;

7 ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching;

8

the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.

Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God.

GRADUAL HYMN ……………… “Lord, Behold Us With Thy Blessing” - 576 A&M

Lord, behold us with Thy blessing Once again assembled here; Onward be our footsteps pressing In Thy love, and faith, and fear; Still protect us By Thy presence ever near. For Thy mercy we adore Thee, For this rest upon our way; Lord, again we bow before Thee, Speed our labors day by day; Mind and spirit With Thy choicest gifts array.

Keep the spell of home affection Still alive in every heart; May its power, with mild direction, Draw our love from self apart, Till Thy children Feel that Thou their Father art. Break temptation’s fatal power, Shielding all with guardian care, Safe in every careless hour, Safe from sloth and sensual snare; Thou, our Saviour, Still our failing strength repair.

+ THE GOSPEL + Reader: The Lord be with you. Response: And also with you. Reader: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to

Matthew 16: 16:21-27. Response: Glory to Christ our Saviour.

21 From that time on, Jesus began to show His disciples that He must

go to Jerusalem and undergo great suffering at the hands of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

22 And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying,

“God forbid it, Lord! This must never happen to You.” 23

But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling-block to Me; for you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.”

24 Then Jesus told His disciples, “If any want to become My followers,

let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me. 25

For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for My sake will find it.

26 For what will it profit them if they gain the

whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life?”

27 “For the Son of Man is to come with His angels in the glory of His

Father, and then He will repay everyone for what has been done.”

Reader: This is the Gospel of Christ. Response: Praise to Christ our Lord.

STRONG DELIVERER, BE THOU STILL MY STRENGTH AND SHIELD! RECESSIONAL HYMN ………………….……………………….. “Jesus, Hold My Hand”

As I travel through this pilgrim land there is a Friend who goes with me. Leads me safely thro’ the sinking sand, it is the Christ of Calvary. This would be my pray’r, dear Lord, each day to help me do the best I can, For I need Thy light to guide me day and night, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Blessed Jesus, hold my hand, yes, I need Thee ev'ry hour, Thru this land, this pilgrim land, by Thy saving pow'r. Hear my plea, my feeble plea, Lord, dear Lord, look down on me, When I kneel in prayer, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Let me travel in the light divine that I may see the blessed way; Keep me that I may be wholly Thine and sing redemption's song some day. I will be a soldier brave and true and ever firmly take a stand, As I onward go and daily meet the foe, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand. When I wander thru the valley dim toward the setting of the sun, Lead me safely to a land of rest if I a crown of life have won; I have put my faith in Thee, dear Lord, that I may reach the golden strand, There's no other Friend on whom I can depend, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Prayer After Mass (Servers Prayer):

Glory to You Lord Jesus, glory to You. Grant that as I have served in Your presence, may we also come to serve in Your heavenly kingdom. In all things God be glorified. Amen.

Priest: The Mass is ended. Go in peace rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.

People: Thanks be to God. Amen!!!

Change Self-Sabotaging Behavior Are you your own worst enemy – your biggest stressor? Do you engage in Behavior that often leads to a stress- producing incident? Listed below are several behaviors or situations that you would do well to consider eliminating from your daily routine:

Some women carry large purses that contain every thing that they will need from sunrise to sunset. Trying o locate an item in it – particularly in a rush- can be quite stressful. Note how often you actually use each item in your purse each day. If the answer is never, then it may be a good candidate for leaving at home. Try carrying only the basics, such as your wallet, lipstick, and keys.

Do you shop with your purse open as if to say to a would-be purse snatcher, “Welcome. Come on in “? Further, an open purse allows items to fall out of it. This is frustrating, but whom can I blame for self sabotage?

How peaceful are your travel preparations? Because I travel a lot, I keep duplicate items of toiletries packed in my suitcase, and therefore have no need to run around looking for them at the last minute. In the past, I have forgotten almost every item at one time or another that I considered “essential.” Now, I have a preprinted packing checklist that sets forth everything I will need. I print out a copy for each trip

How many times have you lost your car in a parking lot or structure? Wherever I park now, the first thing I note is my parking location. I recite it several times as I leave the car. I once was only minutes away from reporting my car stolen after having looked for it for what seemed like hours. I finally located it on a floor of the parking structure where most of the cars had left. No more of this stressful madness for me.

If you’ve entered that forgetful period in your life, when you go out, look around you when you get up to be sure you’ve collected all your belongings. Constantly losing your items can cause quite a bit of stress for you and your companions.

At home, always have a designated place fro the things you need to use often. I keep a bowl or a basket by the door for keys, a vitamin carousel that stays in a set place, a closet organized in a manner such that the things I can wear currently are positioned in the front to avoid my going through the entire closet each time I have to get dressed.

Do not take the cordless phone from the room where the base is located. It may be worth your sanity to have a phone in each room.

If you wear reading glasses but can’t keep up with them, buy several pairs and designate each one for a particular location. Be diligent to keep them in their appointed places.

Do you realistically plan for traffic or things not going as scheduled? Are your assumptions too optimistic as to how long it will take to complete a task or drive to an appointment? The truth of the matter is that I could indeed do things within the bounds of my optimistic time frame if I were the only person on the planet. However, things happen. Rather than bemoaning certain realities, you simply need to anticipate them.

Try to reduce most of your daily activities to a routine. Good planning and forethought are critical to minimizing self-caused stress. They will not reduce you to a life of boredom but rather will give you more time to plan something exciting and fulfilling. *
