    Hello boys and girls! Uncle Steve has a story for you from the Holy ible about Adam and ve"s first

    children#

    The Promise and Sacrifice

    $hen Adam and ve sinned, %od told them in %enesis & verse 1' of the conse(uences they )ould

    suffer# ut at the same time %od also gave them a *romise that the ser*ent )ho deceived them )ouldeventually be destroyed by a child, or seed, that )ould be born#

    +And )ill *ut enmity bet)een thee and the )oman, and bet)een thy seed and her seed- it shall bruise thy

    head, and thou shalt bruise his heel#. /%e &01'

    2hen %od sho)ed them ho) the ser*ent )ould bruise the heel of this child in the death of 3esus on the

    4ross# 5omans 6 verse & tells us0

    +8or the )ages of sin isdeath- but the gift of %od iseternal life through 3esus 4hrist our 9ord#. /5o 60&:any many years later 3esus )as born on earth to a )oman# After He gre) u*, 3ohn the a*tistintroduced 3esus to the *eo*le in 3ohn 1 verse ;0

    +2he ne And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his tres*ass, )hich he hath committed, t)o

    turtledoves, or t)o young *igeons, unto the 9?5@- one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering### ;And he shall s*rin=le of the blood of the sin offering u*on the side of the altar- and the rest of the blood shall be

    )rung out at the bottom of the altar0 it isa sin offering# 1 And he shall offer the secondfora burnt offering,

    according to the manner0 and the *riest shall ma=e an atonement for him for his sin )hich he hath sinned, and it

    shall be forgiven him#

    11 ut if he be not able to bring t)o turtledoves, or t)o young *igeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his

    offering the tenth *art of an e*hah of fine flour for a sin offering- he shall *ut no oil u*on it, neither shall he *ut

    anyfran=incense thereon0 for it isa sin offering# 1 2hen shall he bring it to the *riest, and the *riest shall ta=e

    his handful of it, evena memorial thereof, and burn iton the altar, according to the offerings made by fire untothe 9?5@0 it isa sin offering# 1& And the *riest shall ma=e an atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath

    sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him#. /9e '01B1&

    8rom that time on, anyone )ho sinned, could bring a sin offering, confess his sin, and receive

    forgiveness# y bringing a lamb, *igeon, or fine flour in obedience to these instructions, he sho)ed that

    he believed that 3esus )ould someday come and die for his sin as a lamb# Caul tells us in Hebre)s ;verses 11 to 6, that these sacrifices )ere an illustration of )hat 3esus )ould do for us0

    +11 4hrist being come an high *riest of good things to come, by a greater and more *erfect tabernacle, not made

    )ith hands, that is to say, not of this building- 1 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his o)n blood

    he entered in once into the holy *lace, having obtained eternal redem*tionfor us#

    And almost all things are by the la) *urged )ith blood- and )ithout shedding of blood is no remission# & > Itwastherefore necessary that the *atterns of things in the heavens should be *urified )ith these- but the heavenly

    things themselves )ith better sacrifices than these#

    F 8or 4hrist is not entered into the holy *laces made )ith hands, which arethe figures of the true- but into

    heaven itself, no) to a**ear in the *resence of %od for us0 ' Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the

    high *riest entereth into the holy *lace every year )ith blood of others- 6 8or then must he often have suffered

    since the foundation of the )orld0 but no) once in the end of the )orld hath he a**eared to *ut a)ay sin by the

    Choosing

    %enesis & verse 1' records %od"s first *romise to Adam and ve in the garden0+And )ill *ut enmity bet)een thee and the )oman, and bet)een thy seed and her seed- it shall bruise thy

    head, and thou shalt bruise his heel#. /%e &01'

    nmity is another )ord for hatred that %od *romised to *ut bet)een the ser*ent, Satan, and *eo*le#

    2his meant that every *erson )ould be able to choose )hether to obey the ser*ent or to obey %od#

    3oshua F verse 1' tells us that )e can choose0

    +And if it seem evil unto you to serve the 9?5@, choose you this day )hom ye )ill serve- )hether the gods

    )hich your fathers served that wereon the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in )hose land ye

    d)ell0 but as for me and my house, )e )ill serve the 9?5@#. /3os F01'

    saiah 7 verse 1' tells us that %od )ants us to +=no) to refuse the evil, and choose the good#. /sa 701'

    Cain and Abel

    :oses tells us )hat choices Adam and ve"s first children made in %enesis cha*ter F verses 1 to 160

    +1 > And Adam =ne) ve his )ife- and she conceived, and bare 4ain, and said, have gotten a man from the

    9?5@# And she again bare his brother Abel# And Abel )as a =ee*er of shee*, but 4ain )as a tiller of the

    ground#

    & > And in *rocess of time it came to *ass, that 4ain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the

    9?5@# F And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his floc= and of the fat thereof# And the 9?5@ had

    res*ect unto Abel and to his offering0 ' ut unto 4ain and to his offering he had not res*ect# And 4ain )as very

    )roth, and his countenance fell#

    6 > And the 9?5@ said unto 4ain, $hy art thou )rothG and )hy is thy countenance fallenG 7 f thou doest )ell,

    shalt thou not be acce*tedG and if thou doest not )ell, sin is crouching at your door- it desires to have you, but

    to receive thy brotherLs blood from thy hand- 1 $hen thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto

    thee her strength- a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth#

    1& > And 4ain said unto the 9?5@, :y *unishment isgreater than can bear# 1F ehold, thou hast driven me outthis day from the face of the earth- and from thy face shall be hid- and shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in

    the earth- and it shall come to *ass, thatevery one that findeth me shall slay me# 1' And the 9?5@ said unto

    him, 2herefore )hosoever slayeth 4ain, vengeance shall be ta=en on him sevenfold# And the 9?5@ set a mar=

    4ain chose to leave the *resence of the 9ord rather than to bring a sin offering and confess his sin# Hesuffered the conse(uences of that choice for the rest of his life#

    Appeal

    %od"s *ur*ose in as=ing Adam and ve and their children to confess their sins on the head of a lamband then offer it as a sacrifice )as to sho) them the *rice of sin is death# $ithout the shedding of

    blood, no sin can be )i*ed a)ay or forgiven# 2he lamb they sacrificed on the altar could not ta=e a)ay

    their sin# 3ohn cha*ter 1 and verse ; tells us )ho only can ta=e a)ay our sin0

    +3ohn seeth 3esus coming unto him, and saith, ehold the 9amb of %od, )hich ta=eth a)ay the sin of the)orld#. /3oh 10;

    Solomon tells us in Croverbs cha*ter K verse 1& ho) it is better to confess our sin rather than try to

    cover it u* li=e 4ain did0
