    BEV CHRISTIANSEN, COUNCILLOR

Councillor’s MessageHELLO, ALLIED HEALTH PROFES-SIONALS and members of the Great Lakes District of American Medical Tech-nologists!

My name is Bev Chris-tiansen, RMA. I work full-time in a family practice

clinic, and I have been president of the Iowa State Society of Medical Technologists (ISSAMT). My husband, Dave, and I also operate a family corn and soybean crop production farm. I am honored to be appointed Great Lakes District Councillor, and I would like to thank the members of the Iowa State Society for their support and encouragement to apply for this position.

First and foremost, I would like to give a big shout out to Clara Boykin, MT, for her years of dedication to American Medical Technologists and the Great Lakes District! She has fulfilled her nine-year term limit, but we will still see her as she is the new president of the Min-nesota State Society. Thank you for your service, Clara.

Please welcome Tammy Santee and Debbi Pitts, the new Iowa and Indiana State Society presidents.

In this newsletter, you will find the email addresses of each person involved at the state level for AMT. They can help you and answer your questions about AMT. If you have a question, please ask!

The latest news for American Medical Technolo-gists and Allied health professionals is AMT centralized banking. I would like to congratulate all the states who

have gotten on board so quickly. As of January 1, 2017, 36 of the 38 states were either enrolled or in the process of becoming enrolled with AMT centralized banking. The states report it has been a smooth transition.

This spring, there are two weeks that honor AMT disciplines:

    • Dental Assistants Week, March 5–March 11. If there isn’t a Dental Assistant in your society, ask one to join!

    • Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 23–April 29. Let them know how much they are appreciated! The 79th AMT Educational Program and National

Meeting will be held from July 9–13 at the Interconti-nental Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri.

Please see the flyer at www.americanmedtech.org, and be sure to take advantage of the early-bird registra-tion fee of $225.00 before May 1. Please call or email your AMT state officers and/or your AMT state board members to learn how you can represent your state at the AMT National Meeting and earn CEUs.

You may text or leave a voicemail for me at 641- 425-9809. I will return your text or call as soon as I am able. You may also email me at any time.
