On January 14, 2002, Tony Dungy, head coach of the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers was fired following their loss to the
Philadelphia Eagles. Though he thought his coaching career
was over, he was hired as head coach of the Indianapolis
Colts. In 2005, the Dungy family was rocked by the
suicide of their oldest son, James. James left no note – no
explanation, no reasons – just mystery and devastating
loss. On February 4, 2007, Tony Dungy’s Colts defeated the
Chicago Bears to win the Super Bowl. Throughout life there
is both success and suffering. Tony Dungy knows what it is
to be on the mountaintop. And, Tony Dungy knows what it
is to be taken to the wilderness desert of indescribable pain.
Recently, I have been unable to sleep thinking of the pain
and suffering that many of you are experiencing. There are
physical, emotional, spiritual, relational, financial, and many
other causes of pain and suffering that are hurting so many
of you. Jesus knows where you are and what you are going
through; and HE CARES! (1 Peter 5:7)
The wilderness experience for Jesus was one of solitary
desolation in a barren, harsh, and dangerous environment.
(Luke 4:1-13) Jesus was alone. Like Jesus, you may feel like
you are all alone in the wilderness doing battle with your
inner pain and suffering. Despite how you feel, you are not
alone; God’s presence is with you everywhere you go. If you
feel disconnected and can not talk to God, just call on the
Holy Spirit to intercede for you. He will!
When Jesus was dealing with each challenge to his faith and
character, He responded to Satan by quoting scripture. The
message to all of God’s people who are going through times
of pain and suffering is woven throughout Scripture. God
says, “I will never leave you; I will never forsake you.” And
we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will
not be afraid.” (Hebrews 13:5-6)
Hold on child of God, “weeping may endure for a night, but
joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5)
In His Love,
Andy

Pray About It
The Adult Choir has adopted a new slogan and developed a new mission:
“Shine your light and let the whole world see. We’re singing for the glory of the risen King.”
That’s why we sing. The question is, where are you going to sing? If you can, we would love to have you sing with us in the Adult Choir. We are blessed to have a very good choir and we’re always looking for new singers to become a part of the group. Last quarter, we had several new singers join and they have all become very faithful, contributing members of the choir. We
need several more and this is a perfect time to join. The choir meets on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:45 p.m., in the Choir Suite on the 2nd floor of building “B”. We provide listening CDs to make it easy for you to learn the songs and practice each song for several weeks before we sing it. It’s really quite simple. All you need is a song in your heart and a desire to praise God through singing!
Recently, we adopted a new 3-part mission for the choir:
Commit – We will begin an on-line Bible study to strengthen our relationship with Christ and to learn how to serve Him better.
Praise – We want to praise Him through singing. This summer we will work on two projects. We will lead the music for an outdoor Independence Day celebration to be held at Taylor Road Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 1. And, we will present a Great Hymns of the Faith concert on August 9. This will be an opportunity for us to share some of the best hymns of all time with our church family and the community.
Serve – We will adopt on-going mission projects so that we can demonstrate Christ’s love for the community and get to know one another better by working side-by-side.
The only way to make a good ministry better is to keep praying, keep pushing, and keep persistently asking people to get behind what we’re doing. Would you prayerfully consider being a faithful member of the choir? I hope to see you this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

What a great month at Taylor Road Baptist Church! We had so much fun with the first annual Palm Sunday
Picnic. Even though it rained, we enjoyed a picnic and egg hunt indoors. Mr. David shared the Gospel with
the children before they eagerly started hunting. Everyone left with at least 12 eggs filled with candy. They
loved it!
We also had a great time Resurrection Sunday. For the last several years, the children and preschoolers have
filled a wire-covered cross with beautiful flowers, turning it into a “Living Cross.” This year’s cross was truly
beautiful and serves as a vivid reminder of the life we receive at the cross.
The school year is quickly coming to an end, meaning summer is just
around the corner. You can still register for The Rock, our children’s
summer camp at Laguna Beach Christian Retreat Center near Panama
City, Florida. Camp dates are June 1-5 and the cost is $200. Please call
the Church Office (271-3363) or Ruth Givens at (462-4894) for more
information. We have several spaces still available, but registration will
close soon. Hurry to reserve your spot!
