May 2010 For immediate release Leeds Metropolitan students win with Aviva Leeds Metropolitan University students have fought off stiff competition to win gold, silver and bronze in the Aviva Future Adviser Programme. The programme, which was launched last year, is designed to encourage high-quality graduates to enter the fina ncial advice profe ssion. Students were asked to write an article on an issue facing the financial advice sector, with ten gold winners and ten silver runners-up each receiving a prize of £500. Meanwhile, along with a further 15 bronze runners-up, students will be given access to Aviva's Financial Adviser Academy and supported to continue a career in financial services. Angela Seymour-Jackson, intermediary and partnerships director at Aviva, said: "The Aviva Future Adviser Programme makes it easier for quality firms to attract high-calibre graduates through raising the profile of the sector and encouraging graduates to pursue a career in financial advice. The Future Adviser Programme aims to prepare graduates to get off to a dynamic and successful start with a quality advisory firm." The gold winning students from Leeds Metropolitan were Sara Abdolzadeh and Georgina Hemingway, BA (Hons) Business Studies students. The four silver winners were: Rachel Dobson, Sophie Nugent, David Young and Alfaiz Vaya. Two students also took home the bronze: Gurdeep Virdee and Sajib Chandra Ray.

Leeds Metropolitan students win with Aviva

Leeds Metropolitan University students have fought off stiff competition to win

gold, silver and bronze in the Aviva Future Adviser Programme.

The programme, which was launched last year, is designed to encourage

high-quality graduates to enter the financial advice profession. Students were

asked to write an article on an issue facing the financial advice sector, with

ten gold winners and ten silver runners-up each receiving a prize of £500.

Georgina Hemingway, a gold winner, commented on her success: "The Aviva

future adviser programme is a fantastic competition and offers an invaluable

opportunity to gain real insight into the financial advisor profession. Being a

gold winner is fantastic and I'm really looking forward to the internship in July."

Val Finnigan, Leeds Metropolitan University Teacher Fellow and Enterprise

Project Leader, commented: "It has been a thrill to work with Aviva on this

project. The company is clearly committed to working with our University in

bringing in the next generation of talent into the Financial Advisor profession.

"This is a unique internship programme which has been recognised in the

financial world. We will look forward to seeing how the students progress and

the possibility of working with Aviva again."

• The Aviva Future Adviser Programme was launched last year and is

designed to encourage high-quality graduates to enter the financial

advice profession.

• The Aviva Future Adviser Programme, 35 business undergraduates

from seven leading universities have been selected to attend a two-day

assessment centre. The top 10 ‘gold' finalists will join a six-week

summer internship with Aviva and leading adviser firms.
