ABSTRACT Regarding the disease occurrence concept,diseasedoesnotoccurrandomly,
it is dominated by typical physical and biologicalcharacteristicsofthearea.Spatial
epidemiologyisapublichealthtoolthatwas
developedundersuchconceptthataimsto
describeandanalyzediseasesituations in
eacharearegardingpopulation,environmental,
societal,behaviorandgeneticfactors.Also,
Ecological design, Geographic information
systemandSpatialstatisticsareemployed
toidentifyecologicalfactorsrelatingtohealth
situation.Up todate, spatial epidemiology
hasbeenappliedtoseveraldisciplinesuch
as criminology, environmental health and
surveillancesystem.Spatialepidemiologyin
publichealthhasassistedtosetresource
allocationplanning,healthserviceplanning,
operatingdiseasepreventionandcontrol.
