No glass policy will be enforced. Vehicles will be checked on entry. Alcohol in glass containers will be confiscated. No irresponsible, careless or dangerous riding will be tolerated. All riders must wear an approved equestrian helmet at all times when

mounted. No helmet, no ride. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times unless competing in high jump. Dogs found outside designated area will be shot without question at property

owners request. Rubbish: To be taken home in bags provided. NO bombing or mis-use of vehicles. Vehicles being used unnecessarily will

have keys confiscated. NO 2 or 4 wheel motorbikes permitted on site unless authorised by TMCA. No Fires (includes contained).

Sunday - Trail Rides

7.30 – 9.00 am Registrations for the rides taken at the TMCA caravan.All riders must be registered.

9.00 – 9.30 am Marshalling. Riders to wear an approved equestrian helmetand be equipped with tethering gear.Horses required to be moderately fit and recommended recentlyshod or booted.No dogs or alcohol on rides. No double dinking or leading ofunmounted horses.

10.00 am Trail rides depart. B.Y.O. lunch or ordered at the Lions food vanby Saturday evening with these delivered to the lunch stop.

3.00 pm Trail ride returns.

Special Event: Ray Jones Memorial Trail Ride. Held over easyterrain of approximately 1 hour. Children on leading rein welcome.

Due to the rapid rise in horse and animal welfare horses may beparaded & inspected by veterinary officer before participation.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR EVENTS

1. Competitors competing in Championship, Stock Horse Races and TeamsRelay will be issued a wrist band on completion of course walk.

NO WRISTBAND, NO START2. Equestrian helmets compulsory in all events (except whip cracking).

NO HELMET, NO START.3. No halters or headstalls to be used in races as the main horse control.4. One run per horse each event.5. The TMCA reserves the right to alter, amend or cancel all or any portion of

this program as it may deem fit.6. The decision of the Judge or Judges will be final. No correspondence will be

entered into.7. Any competitor who wishes to lodge a complaint must lodge it within half an

hour of the incident taking place.8. Offensive language or abuse of horses will lead to automatic disqualification.9. Queries can be directed to any TMCA committee member.10. The Tasmanian Mountain Cattlemen’s Assoc. does not assume liability for

accident resulting in death or injury to competitors or their property, eachcontestant by act of entry or participation waives all claims for death, injury,loss or damage that they, their helpers, their stock or property may sustain.

11. Due to the rapid rise in horse and animal welfare horses may be paraded andinspected by veterinary officer prior to any participation.

EVENT 13. PHILIP DAVEY SHEET METAL & ASHGROVE FARM CHEESETEAMS RELAY RACE.Teams of three horses and four riders. Event to be run as a relay over 4 legs. All riders to beover the age of ten years. Stock saddle compulsory. Riders & horses may compete in 1 teamonly. Team name only to be submitted at the time of entry.First LegFirst competitor starts unmounted. Leading his horse he runs 20 metres to full-length oilskin

coat, (must be lined), puts it on, mounts and races to calf. At calf, he dismounts, picks it up,remounts and races to second rider waiting at Point A (No log jumps).Second LegSecond rider takes calf and races to Point B over log jumps and passes calf to third rider.Third Leg: Third rider, mounted bareback, takes calf and races to point C where fourth rider iswaiting to be picked up. (No log jumps)Fourth Leg Together they race mounted and still carrying calf to finish line (No log jumps)

EVENT 14. IAN ATKINS & GUNNY MEMORIAL SENIOR WALKING RACE.For riders 18 years and over. To be over a course of approximately 1.5 km of undulatingterrain. Rules: If the horse breaks, a circle must be turned and a walk re-established.

Entry fee $5EVENT 15. REG DIXON MEMORIAL JUNIOR WALKING RACE.For riders under 14 - 17 years. Rules as for Event 14. Entry fee $3

EVENT 16. CHARLESTON FAMILY JUVENILE WALKING RACE.For riders under 14 years. Rules as for Event 14. Entry fee $3

EVENT 17. RUSTY’S CARTAGE & EXCAVATIONS NOVICE STOCKMAN’SWHIPCRACK.For entrants who have never won a stockman’s whipcrack event. To be run on horsebackover a horse-shoe shaped course with a maximum of 12 papers to be cut. Riders to ride at anypace on inside of targets only. Targets are to be placed on a course at intervals at thediscretion of the steward & judges. This will be a timed event. Points awarded for cut paperswithin the time limit. One horse one run. Entrants can compete on more than one horse.

EVENT 18. BASIL STEERS MEMORIAL STOCKMAN'S WHIPCRACKSPONSORED BY KENT SADDLERY (minimum 6 foot plait whip)To be conducted on same lines as event 17 except entrants must canter around the course.

HORSELAND JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

For entrants under 18 years. To be run coinciding with the senior championship.First prize – $100 cash, inscribed woollen rug sponsored by Horseland & trophy.Second and Third prizes will be allocated.

The Page Transport Tasmanian Mountain Cattlemen's Association Championship andThe Horseland Junior Championship have three phases with A&B running concurrently.

Phase A. - Handy Stock HorseCompetitor to carry a simulated calf, cross a bridge, hobble horse, open gate & stand crackinga whip. Time limit of four (4) minutes. Guide lines available on entry.

Phase B. – Sheep HandlingInvolves working a small flock of sheep around the prescribed course and yarding them tofinish. Running martingales permitted.

Phase C. - Stock Horse RaceApproximately 2 kilometres in length. Course over undulating terrain with logs and water tobe jumped. Competitors start unmounted. On starting they run, leading horse approximately10 metres to full length oilskin coat, (must be lined), put it on, mount and race over course tosimulated calves. They dismount, pick up calf, mount and continue the race. Approx half wayaround the calf is to be placed in the designated area. Prior to completing the race the ridermust dismount in the designated area, remove oilskin coat and complete the race leading theirhorse. Each competitor is individually timed. A time limit for the race will apply, to be advisedon the day of the event.

Each phase of the competition will be scored and the best overall score will win theChampionship. In the event of points being equal, there will be a count back to CattleHandling, Handy Stock Horse and Stock Horse Race in that order.

Any competitor may be eliminated from any phase at any time by presiding judge, which inturn eliminates entrant from entire championship.Entry restricted to financial members of the T.M.C.A.Membership form can be completed and fee paid with entry.Stock saddle compulsory. Official entry form is provided on page 8 of this programme.Championship Entry Fee: Senior $30; Junior $15.

Phase A. - Handy Stock HorseCompetitor to carry a simulated calf, cross a bridge, hobble horse, open gate & stand crackinga whip. Time limit of four (4) minutes. Guide lines available on entry.

Phase B. – Sheep HandlingInvolves working a small flock of sheep around the prescribed course and yarding them tofinish. Running martingales permitted.

Phase C. - Stock Horse RaceApproximately 2 kilometres in length. Course over undulating terrain with logs and water tobe jumped. Competitors start unmounted. On starting they run, leading horse approximately10 metres to full length oilskin coat, (must be lined), put it on, mount and race over course tosimulated calves. They dismount, pick up calf, mount and continue the race. Approx half wayaround the calf is to be placed in the designated area. Prior to completing the race the ridermust dismount in the designated area, remove oilskin coat and complete the race leading theirhorse. Each competitor is individually timed. A time limit for the race will apply, to be advisedon the day of the event.

Each phase of the competition will be scored and the best overall score will win theChampionship. In the event of points being equal, there will be a count back to CattleHandling, Handy Stock Horse and Stock Horse Race in that order.

Any competitor may be eliminated from any phase at any time by presiding judge, which inturn eliminates entrant from entire championship.Entry restricted to financial members of the T.M.C.A.Membership form can be completed and fee paid with entry.Stock saddle compulsory. EVENT 13. PHILIP DAVEY SHEET METAL & ASHGROVE FARM CHEESETEAMS RELAY RACE.Teams of three horses and four riders. Event to be run as a relay over 4 legs. All riders to beover the age of ten years. Stock saddle compulsory. Riders & horses may compete in 1 teamonly. Team name only to be submitted at the time of entry.First LegFirst competitor starts unmounted. Leading his horse he runs 20 metres to full-length oilskin

coat, (must be lined), puts it on, mounts and races to calf. At calf, he dismounts, picks it up,remounts and races to second rider waiting at Point A (No log jumps).Second LegSecond rider takes calf and races to Point B over log jumps and passes calf to third rider.Third Leg: Third rider, mounted bareback, takes calf and races to point C where fourth rider iswaiting to be picked up. (No log jumps)Fourth Leg Together they race mounted and still carrying calf to finish line (No log jumps)

EVENT 17. RUSTY’S CARTAGE & EXCAVATIONS NOVICE STOCKMAN’SWHIPCRACK.For entrants who have never won a stockman’s whipcrack event. To be run on horsebackover a horse-shoe shaped course with a maximum of 12 papers to be cut. Riders to ride at anypace on inside of targets only. Targets are to be placed on a course at intervals at thediscretion of the steward & judges. This will be a timed event. Points awarded for cut paperswithin the time limit. One horse one run. Entrants can compete on more than one horse.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR EVENTS

1. Competitors competing in Championship, Stock Horse Races and TeamsRelay will be issued a wrist band on completion of course walk.

NO WRISTBAND, NO START2. Equestrian helmets compulsory in all events (except whip cracking).

NO HELMET, NO START.3. No halters or headstalls to be used in races as the main horse control.4. One run per horse each event.5. The TMCA reserves the right to alter, amend or cancel all or any portion of

this program as it may deem fit.6. The decision of the Judge or Judges will be final. No correspondence will be

entered into.7. Any competitor who wishes to lodge a complaint must lodge it within half an

hour of the incident taking place.8. Offensive language or abuse of horses will lead to automatic disqualification.9. Queries can be directed to any TMCA committee member.10. The Tasmanian Mountain Cattlemen’s Assoc. does not assume liability for

accident resulting in death or injury to competitors or their property, eachcontestant by act of entry or participation waives all claims for death, injury,loss or damage that they, their helpers, their stock or property may sustain.

11. Due to the rapid rise in horse and animal welfare horses may be paraded andinspected by veterinary officer prior to any participation.

No glass policy will be enforced. Vehicles will be checked on entry. Alcohol in glass containers will be confiscated. No irresponsible, careless or dangerous riding will be tolerated. All riders must wear an approved equestrian helmet at all times when

mounted. No helmet, no ride. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times unless competing in high jump. Dogs found outside designated area will be shot without question at property

owners request. Rubbish: To be taken home in bags provided. NO bombing or mis-use of vehicles. Vehicles being used unnecessarily will

have keys confiscated. NO 2 or 4 wheel motorbikes permitted on site unless authorised by TMCA. No Fires (includes contained).
