TITLE:
Security Report
PURPOSE:
The Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) security report ensures security-related information is publicly communicated to enhance the security of our
customers and the protection of Metro employees. This security report willaddress and compare the 4th quarter crime data from 2011 to the 4th quartercrime data of 2010. In addition, crime information is also provided for the entirecalendar year of 2011.
DESCRIPTION:
Security information is directly linked to the WMATA goal of: Create asafety culture.

16% reduction in Part I Crimes
1,922 arrests
7,020 criminal/civil citations for fare evasionand public conduct violations
27% reduction in bus operator assaults(Reduced 90 to 66 assaults)
The probability of being a victim of a Part Icrime in the Metrorail system is 5.61 per millionriders

In October 2011, a homicide occurred on a Metrobus. Per DC law, the crime waseported to the FBI by the DC Police Department. Video provided by Metro clearlyentified two individuals as persons of interest who were subsequently arrested.
