DESCRIPTIONThe Fire & Overheat Detector monitors for fire and
overheat conditions. It can be used in areas of veryhigh temperatures.
The detector is made from welded stainless steel
and is completely sealed. It is non-repairable and
cannot be disassembled. The detector is set to a
specified alarm temperature at the factory and cannot
be re-adjusted.
Electrical connections are made through two terminal
posts with threads inside. Stainless steel screws are
used to attach wires to the two terminals. Mounting
is with 3/4-14 NPT threads

INSTALLATION
NOTE : Local authorities having jurisdiction should
be consulted before installation.
The 17343-124 detector must be installed in a suitable
enclosure with appropriate group and category rating
for the application.
The 17343-124 detector must be mounted into an
enclosure that complies with the appropriate require-
ments for Category 3 applications. Enclosures must
have a 3/4 NPT opening to mount the detector.
Thread the unit into the 3/4 NPT opening at least
5 full turns and torque to 20 foot pounds (27 N m).
NOTE : See CAUTION regarding NPT threads
on outline drawing below.
For ATEX applications ensure that enclosures
are grounded to an ATEX approved mounting box.
Connect system wiring to the detector's terminals
per applicable electrical codes using 8-32 UNC 2A
stainless steel slotted hex head screws with integral
washer (provided).
NOTE : See
CAUTION regarding torque limit on outline drawing below.
CAUTION :Do not apply
more than 25 inch
pounds (2.82 N m)
of torque to the
terminals
HANDLING AND STORAGETake precautions to ensure that the shell and threads
are not subject to damage.
! CAUTION :Do not use any
anti-sieze, thread
locking compound
or lubricants on
the NPT threads
