Mekanisme kontraksi otot

1. Neuron motoris somatik meneruskan impuls dari saraf pusat sampai ke NMJ. Vesikel-vesikel akson terminalis me-release neurotransmitter (ACh) yang kmd berdifusi melintasi celah sinaps dan melekat di reseptor-reseptornya di sarcolemma sehingga menginisiasi potensial aksi. PA tsb dijalarkan sepanjang sarcolemma memasuki tubulus T dan sampai di sistem triad.

2. Potensial aksi memicu pelepasan ion kalsium (calcium release) dari sisterna terminalis ke sarcoplasma.

3. Ion Calcium bergerak menuju dan berikatan dengan troponin C, troponin berubah bentuk / formasinya, melepaskan aksi blokade tropomyosin sehingga area aktif aktin terbuka.

4. Setelah area aktif aktin terbuka maka kontraksi dimulai: - cross bridges myosin secara bergantian melekat dan lepas di area aktif aktin, menarik filamen aktin ke tengah sarcomere. - Tenaga penggerak (power) utk terjadinya siklus kontraksi otot tersebut, berasal dari pelepasan energi hasil hidrolisis ATP.

5. Setelah Calcium terpakai untuk mengubah formasi troponin dan melepaskan blokade tropomyosin, ion kalsium dipompa balik (kembali) ke sisterna terminalis dengan mekanisme transport aktif yg terjadi setelah potensial aksi berakhir.

6. Tropomyosin kembali memblokade area aktif aktin, kontraksi berakhir dan serabut otot relaksasi.
