Introduction to Commissioning Commissioning Definition

After installing the NodeB hardware, you need to upgrade the

software and data configuration file, check the operating status of

the system, and verify the basic services to ensure that the NodeB

operates normally

Commissioning Preparations

NodeB name, NodeB ID, and Electronic serial number (ESN)

BootROM software: Firmware.csp

NodeB software: Software.csp

Data configuration file: NodeBCfg.xml

Run the NodeB LMTLocal connect laptop computer NodeB WMPT ETH port

with IP address 17.21.2.15,mask 255.0.0.0


Checking Software Version and Data Configuration of NodeB

Logging in to NodeB with NodeB Local IP address


Checking the current software version of the boards and

modules of the NodeB by command LST VER

If The NodeB version doesn’t match, we need to upgrade

the NodeB to the right version




Upgrade the NodeB

Click Maintenance>Software Management >Software Update



Upgrade the NodeB BootROM

Activating the BootROM does not reset the NodeB

Choose the directory where you store the version file, then click “Next” to download the new BootROM from laptop to NodeB

If you click the “Activate BootROM”, the BootROM will be activated automatically after downloading



Upgrade the NodeB Software



Download the NodeB Configuration File Click Maintenance>Software Management >Data Config File Transfer

Your laptop works as an FTP Server while NodeBupgrade

“Upload” is used to store the old configuration file

“Download” is used to transfer the new configuration file from laptop to NodeB

In the NodeB LMT

window, click the

Device Panel tab to

check the board

configuration of the

NodeB

Checking the detailed board information: Right-click the board to be

queried, and then choose the Display Board Status from the shortcut

menu

Checking the Status of a Cell

Run the DSP LOCELL command to check the status of all

local and logical cells of the NodeB.

If... Then...The information prompting faults is displayed

Rectify the faults according to the information.

No information prompting faults is displayed

End the task.

Checking the NodeB VSWR on the LMT

Run the STR VSWRTEST command to check the NodeB

VSWR

CAUTION: During testing of the VSWR, the services of the

NodeB are interrupted. Therefore, you are advised to test

the VSWR when the service volume is light or after the

NodeB services are isolated.


Checking the Alarm Information of the NodeB

In the NodeB Device Panel tab page, check the color of

different DBS boards to find out whether alarms related

to the boards exist

Clicking Alarm in the NodeB LMT window, and the

Browse Alarm tab page is displayed in the NodeB Alarm

window


Testing the UMTS ServicesTesting all the services listed in the table

When a NodeB carries multiple logical cells, you should

perform a call test in each logical cell

The LED on the USB disk is OFF

RUN LED on each BBU board blinks (ON for 0.125s, OFF

for 0.125s)

The ALM LED on the WMPT, WBBP, or UTRP is ON

The ALM LED on the active WMPT blinks

A CPRI LED on the WBBP is ON (red)

CPRI LED on the WBBP blinks (red, ON for 0.25s, OFF for

0.25s)

CPRI LED on the WBBP (red, ON for 1s, OFF for 1s)
