The District Dialogue is issued twice monthly.
Former Vista student receives full ride to NAU Former Vista del Sur student Quesha Avalos is
the recipient of the Chief Manuelito Academic Excel-
lence Award by the Navajo Nation. She will receive a
full ride scholarship to Northern Arizona University
next year.
Digital Learning Day
Classrooms across the Laveen Elementary School
District participated in Digital Learning Day on
March 13. We asked teachers to tell us how they were
integrating technology into their lessons and received
over 200 responses!
Did you know that all Laveen schools have a 2:1
student to device ratio?
Three students recognized for essays
Three students were recognized as the district
winners of the Grand
Canyon State Games
essay contest.

Melissa Goodwin of
Desert Meadows won
the K-3 category;
sixth grader Mavett
Medrano of Vista del
Sur won the 4-6 category; and eighth grader Richard
Nguyen, also of Vista, won the 7-8 category.
The three students were recognized at a recent
governing board meeting.
Vista student sets goals, wins award
Vista fifth grader Breanna Hurd participated in
the nationwide Children’s Goal Setting Project and
became their February winner.
Breanna’s goal was to make
honor roll, which she did. She not-
ed that it wasn’t a fast process
and their were many obstacles
along the way, but she did it over
one quarter. In addition to mak-
ing the honor roll, she was also
named a Student of the Month.
Breanna was recognized at a recent governing board
meeting.
Peace Poster winners announced
The Laveen Lions Foundation recently announced
the winners of their Laveen Peace Poster Contest.
One first place winner
from each participating
school was named. They
are: Eric Chagolla, Rogers
Ranch; Damien Contre-
ras, Cheatham; Faith Her-
nandez, Desert Meadows;
Keisha Johnson, Trailside
Point; and Angelyk Wilkinson, Vista del Sur.
The winning posters were then sent on to compete
at the multi-district level. Angelyk’s artwork took 1st
Place at multi-district and was selected to move on to
regionals.
