ORDER OF SERVICE [Worship Supplement 2000, pp. 12ff]

PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP

ENTRANCE HYMN: 510 — “Savior, Sprinkle Many Nations!”

(with Handbells; Tune: Ode to Joy)

WELCOME in the name of Jesus whose words bring life and salvation to all who believe! INVOCATION (Pastor): In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Congregation:

CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION

Text: from Christian Worship: A Lutheran Hymnal © 1993 Northwestern Publishing House. All rights reserved. OneLicense.net License #A-710933

Pastor: We have come into the presence of God, who created us to love and serve Him as His dear children. But we have disobeyed Him and deserve only His wrath and punishment. Therefore, let us confess our sins to Him and plead for His mercy.

Congregation: Merciful Father in heaven, I am altogether sinful from birth. In countless ways I have sinned against You and do not deserve to be called Your child. But trusting in Jesus, my Savior, I pray: Have mercy on me according to Your unfailing love. Cleanse me from my sin, and take away my guilt. Pastor: God, our heavenly Father, has forgiven all your sins. By the perfect life and innocent death of our Lord Jesus Christ, He has re-moved your guilt forever. You are His own dear child. May God give you strength to live according to His will.

THE SERVICE OF THE WORD [Music in Worship Supplement, p. 13]

Congregation (sings): Lord, have mercy on us, Christ, have mercy on us. Lord, have mercy on us.

GLORY TO GOD, WE GIVE YOU THANKS

Text: Edwin LeGrice © 1991 Kevin Mayhew Ltd. All rights reserved. OneLicense.net License #A-710933

1. Glory to God, we give You thanks and praise; Of heav'nly joy and peace on earth we sing. We worship You, to You our hearts we raise, Lord God, almighty Father, heav'nly King. 2. Lord Jesus Christ, the Father's only Son, You bore for us the load of this world's sin. O Lamb of God, Your glorious vict'ry won, Receive our prayer, grant us Your peace within. 3. Alone, O Christ, You only are the Lord, At God's right hand in majesty most high: Who, with the Spirit worshiped and adored, With all the heav'nly host we glorify.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

P: Let us pray . . . . . . through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Congregation:

FIRST LESSON: Romans 10:8b-17 (p.1007, pew Bible)

God has chosen the preaching of “the gospel of peace” as the means by which the Holy Spirit works faith within the hearts of people. That faith in Jesus Christ can be confessed by all with complete confidence, for it will never be put to shame!

GRADES K-8 MISSION MEDLEY

arr. Mary Dorn Lippert

From Greenland’s icy mountains, from India’s coral strand, TLH 495

Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born!

REFRAIN: Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and ev’rywhere Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is Lord!

If you cannot speak like angels, if you cannot preach like Paul, TLH 496

You can tell the love of Jesus, you can say He died for all. REFRAIN

4

I am trusting You, Lord Jesus, trusting only You; TLH 428

Trusting You for full salvation, free and true! REFRAIN Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong! REFRAIN Lift we then, our voices, swell the mighty flood; TLH 158

Louder still and louder, praise the precious blood! REFRAIN SECOND LESSON: Matthew 9:35-38 (p.857, pew Bible)

Jesus has great compassion for the lost and scattered souls of mankind. Those lost souls need to hear “the gospel of the kingdom.” Let us heed Jesus’ call to prayer, so that many hearts will be moved to join in His spiritual harvest!

Pastor: Blessed are they who hear the Word of God and keep it.

Congregation (sings): [Music in Worship Supplement, p. 14]

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! These words are written that we may believe

that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

APOSTOLIC CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit;

the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints;

the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

BENEDICTION: by Pastor Raju in Nepali

Congregation:

HYMN: “Rise, O Light of Gentile Nations” (with Handbells; Tune: Ode to Joy)

1. Rise, O Light of Gentile nations, Jesus, bright and Morning Star; Let Your Word, the gladsome tidings, Ring out loudly near and far, Bringing freedom to the captives, Peace and comfort to the slave, That the heathen, free from bondage, May proclaim Your pow'r to save.

2. Knowing You and Your salvation, Grateful love dare never cease To proclaim Your tender mercies, Gracious Lord, Your heav'nly peace. Let us sound the Gospel tidings To the earth's remotest bound That the sinner has been pardoned And forgiveness can be found.

3. May our zeal to help the heathen Be increased from day to day As we plead in true compassion And for their conversion pray. For the many faithful workers, For the Gospel they proclaim, Let us all be cheerful givers To the glory of Your name. 4. Savior, shine in all Your glory On the nations near and far; From the highways and the byways Call them forth, O Morning Star. Guide them whom Your grace has chosen Out of Satan's dreadful thrall To the mansions of Your Father-- There is room for sinners all. Amen.

The daughter of a former Immanuel member lives in Owatonna but

attends college in Mankato. She is looking for someone who may have

an extra room she could use (rent) as needed (up to 3-4 times in a

week) to avoid late night travel home and early return the next morning.

For more information, please contact Pastor Eichstadt.

USHERS NEEDED: We need ushers to have our church ser-vices run smoothly. Ushers help by greeting people, handing our bulletins, helping people who are not familiar with our church, tak-ing the collection of the offerings, counting attendance and picking up things left in the church. Ushers are assigned to teams; the teams are responsible for one Sunday of the month (first week, second week, etc.) We need men to do this service for our con-gregation. Can you help do this? Contact David Lueck, deacon in charge of ush-ering, by phone at 995-0772, by email at [email protected] or by talking to me at church.

Help the Sophomores of Immanuel Lutheran raise money for their

Senior Class Trip by running or walking their 5K fun run. It will be held

on April 5, 2014 at 9:05 a.m. from Sibley Park to Riverfront Park. For

more details or to sign up, visit our website at: sites.google.com/site/

see you at the start line!

Donations made to ECHO Food Shelf between March 1st and April 4th will be matched proportionately, so donations mean even more! ECHO served 16,063 households in 2013; most client fami-lies visit 5-6 times per year. An average of 233 new families use ECHO Food Shelf every month. Currently ECHO has 90-100 volun-teers and can always use more (call 345-7477). For more informa-tion see the church bulletin boards.
